but i'd be afraid to show him my cover.
you can look it up. this is a cover from one of my favorite singers.
lots of instruments here - vocals - textures - more of an orchestration trying to keep it light - full of air, joy, hope -
starting in an inviting calm - warm
then into grand emotional harmony inviting every voice. 
 i could never sing like him. I had a different idea.
vocals are rough. 



There is where you need to give people that tour credit. They work on a song/album in the studio until they're SICK to death of it - then they gotta tour it for months? - possibly YEARS if it's a 'hit' - and most hits are not improvised jazz.
But there's been plenty of people that did some great covers outside of their main stylings.

 My mother worked as a waitress in our small town diner. Sometimes i'd get a chance to have a blueberry pancake - that was bigger than the plate - and the radio was playing his big song 'think i'm in trouble'

i this exact tune a while back using loops. it got GREAT reviews. I got rid of ALL of the loops and replaced them with my OWN percussion/keys - whatever. This is 100% either programmed or played on my drums/keyboards & as ALWAYS using my bass, drum set, keyboards, guitars - cuz IT MATTERS!!

12 keys on a Ring

a folky, jazz fusion of 5/4 beat, guitars, slide - vocals - hard to explain -

seems to be a fitting for the times - Ruthless to the end -
this might be just a step - it's hard to determine when a song begins or ends. 
i like this 5/4 groove i wanted the basses to be simple and in fact one follows the orchestra part. This was mixed LOUD & may have lost things - but also gained a bottom end - what's popular today. 
 vocals are always tolerable - but when the slide guitars come in 
a nice enhanced feel - this one kinda wrote it self - as many - where trial and error spark ideas that i had not thought of. i had to rethink the guitars to go along with the feel - not being so independent. That's hard for someone that avoids to much repetition. That's the reason why my interests go into progressive rock, space rock, from the 1960 to today! It's one thing to have that basic sound a soloist can achieve - (unlike a live band) underground in a garage - but then to make it unique - this 5/4 idea came from another idea trying to be simple but no predictable using pop, folk, jazz, blues, psychedelic, experimental, old school mellow progressive folk, electronic, using 2 to 5 guitars, trio of vocals - fusions - i add vocals - just so more people will listen. i'm into musicians - far beyond singers without instruments - people that LIKE to play/record REAL instruments - played by various lips & limbs with intention - practice - improvisation on themes, ideas.
So here in wealth's commerce of sales it's an invisible compelling option - making music - not for a dime - factoring in the time, effort, costs - instruments, electricity, computers, microphones, audio inspirations -
