What Are the Benefits of Centered Riding®?
Centered Riding® is an innovative way of learning and teaching classical principles of riding, using body awareness, centering, and imagery. Centered Riding is not a separate seat or discipline, but encompasses all seats and styles of riding. It teaches a language that allows clearer communication between horse, rider, and instructor. Centered Riding was developed by Sally Swift, author of the best-selling book and videotapes, and is now taught by Centered Riding Instructors around the world.

Centered Riding is based on a knowledge of human and horse anatomy, balance, movement, and on understanding how the mind affects the body and how both affect the horse. What Can Centered Riding do for you?
Centered Riding teaches you how to help your body do what you need to do in order to ride well. These techniques can increase confidence and enjoyment and release tension in horses and riders, making training easier. They also help people cope with old injuries or chronic conditions that cause pain during or after riding.

Centered Riding is used successfully by riders and instructors of all ages, interests, and levels, from pleasure riders to international competitors, and in therapeutic riding. It can be applied to any type of horse or horsemanship. Most of all, it makes riding more enjoyable for horses and riders.

Meet Rufus Savage Friedman of Point Arena, a volunteer for the Arena Theater. Rufus is also seen at town hall and community meetings since he is a resident concerned with the future of the Point Arena community.Rufus' career was as a Prop Man who worked with many well known films, including working on  the Sci-Fi classic Logan's Run and Gatica. We talked about his work in Hollywood. He also spent some time making holograms. What Rufus really wanted to talk about, however, was the importance of being a volunteer. It was great fun getting to know Rufus and learning about a side of the movie industry that we rarely hear. Props are the key to making a film feel authenticate. Rufus is about as authenticate as it gets. Enjoy.

Peggy Berryhill and Leigh Anne Lindsey interview producer, filmmaker and writer who lives in the town of Mendocino part-time, and Paradise near Chico in Butte County part-time. He has been involved with the Mendocino Film Festival for many years and is the Associate Programming Officer for the Internationally renowned American Documentary Film Festival which starts Friday April 6, 2018 in Palm Springs. 

John talks about the films he found in Eastern Europe & Europe which will play at that festival, the producers and filmmakers he met who are behind those films, and some insight on the festival itself. He talks about the festivals he attends, including Cannes and Venice (pictured here.)

Dr. Osborne has been a Production Assistant, Project & Location Mgr, Boom Operator, and consultant. He has worked on the big picture film Need for Speed, part of which was filmed here in Mendocino County a few years back. Featured is a race scene through the redwoods of Highway 128 and the Point Arena Lighthouse where the cross-country car race ends. Among his other projects are Thank you for your service, Davi's Way, Crabs!, which was filmed up in Fort Bragg with a preview that was shown at last year's Mendocino Film Festival. 

He was a professor of English, Film, & Humanities and taught all aspects of cinema.
