Riva's tastes have always been guided by a borderless approach. Her time spent growing up in the Middle East, as well as spells living in Hong Kong and South Africa, have all played a part in expanding her musical horizons and have kindled her viewpoint of music as a means of telling a story, of letting go and of bringing people together on the dance floor. 

A core part of the Daytimers team - a collective formed last year to champion South Asian artistry in its many forms - Riva has played an integral role in platforming artists and raising money for important causes including Covid relief in India and the Farmers Protests. The bulk of Daytimers' work has come in the form of charity events, compilations and radio shows, as well as seeing them co-curate the UK's first all South Asian festival, Dialled In, and head up the first all South Asian Boiler Room this year.

Beyond her involvement in these pivotal events for her community, Riva has played slots across Europe and has been a regular guest at South London label and party Big Dyke Energy's events. It's with BDE that Daytimers recently joined forces for their charity compilation, Celebrating Pride: For The Community, By The Community, which we recently documented in a feature about their collaboration.

On today's mix, recorded during a sleepless night induced by cold & flu medicine, Riva journeys through tracks that give her a sense of freedom and liberation, from acid and electro to breaks and techno.

Siu Mata b2b Amor Satyr left a big dent on the dance floors this year with their unique and fast-paced take on dembow, showcasing the fast changing and diversifying landscape of the Parisian underground. They brought their polyrhythmic DJ booth wizardry peak time to RSO.Berlin, showing that fast dance music doesn't necessarily need to be hard music.

Pretty Privilege is a DJ and organiser based in Montreal, Canada. She is the founder of microrave, a FLINTA*-centered mix & party series. Over the past two years, she has become a mainstay of the city’s queer rave scene, performing at local favourites like Homegrown Harvest and Piknic Electronik, as well as multiple shows in the United States. She has also done mixes for Shift Radio, Action Replay Codes, Radio Vacarme, and FemmeDecks. Her mixing style is faithfully dance driven, with sets that heavily incorporate sexy vocal electro, pop-inspired techno, and liquidy afterhours grooves. When she’s not bouncing viciously behind the decks, she’s taking estrogen and trying to be a good person.

"This is one of those mixes where you think you know where you're going with it, and it turns out you absolutely do not. I had my cute little XOXA playlist all planned out and then suddenly, after a long day, I realized I needed a release! I jumped from Azealia Banks to hard grooves to Jersey to trance to electro to house because I suddenly felt like I couldn't contain my energy any longer and I hope you can't too <3"
