"Cold Little Heart" - Michael Kiwanuka

Great song. I had originally a different idea, with the intro supported by boombap drums in the second half. It didn't sound great so I scrapped it. I turned it into a really ambient but chilling soundscape with pads and a rumbling bass. I clipped the vocal samples and instrumentation here to create an overwhelming 'wall-of-sound' effect that built up from the beginning and was about to climax before breaking into an abrupt  boombap early Kanye style beat. 

Obviously this part was inspired by early Kanye, especially "The College Dropout". I might drop a Ye acapella on it lol. I also thought Kendrick might murder the beat.

A Monte Booker type beat. Bass arpeggios laid the foundation for this track. I tried going for a slack and laidback feel, with drums reminiscent of lofi. There is a strange polyrhythm with the tambourine and the woodblock - quintuplets on triplets. Very shuffl-ey feel. I don't know. Just enjoy it and rap over it.
