as with most of my titles this is both, a spur-of-the-moment idea as well as a multi-levelled enigma 🤓
first and foremost: the song is a document of my sound atm... what kind of samples i'm interested in, what i'm looking for sonically and finally also an expression of the mellow mindstate i'm in not having performed or dj-ed in front of an audience for so many months...
the title is thus also an expression of an urge to travel again, to hunt new experiences and memories (hence the title fernW which is pronounced as the German term "Fernweh," d'uh?!)..
the song also marks the end of my Wiedikon residency and i'm having mixed feelings about this... it is the ever so common "lächelndes und weinendes Auge" situation..
change is inevitable blablabla... every end marks a beginning blablabla... BUT HEY! this really marks a beginning since it's the first song released by the promising Iruka Records label and i'm feeling honored, humbled as well as latently hungry to have contributed the first release – vielen herzlichen Dank an Euch! 🙏🏻
obviously there's still more to it, but some things remain private for now.

..taking a moment to pay homage to one of the most influential and iconic figures in hip-hop history, the legendary 45 King. The 45 King, known as Mark James, was a pioneer in the realm of hip-hop production, and his impact on the genre is immeasurable to me.

I guess, the beats he crafted will continue to inspire generations of artists, producers, and fans alike.

In honor of the 45 King and his remarkable career, I've put together a mix of some of my personal favorite beats he produced. It's a small way to pay tribute to a legend who has left an indelible mark on the hip-hop world. Through this mix, I hope to keep his memory alive and share the magic of his music with others who may not be familiar with his work.

I made this beat for a video showcasing the (reverse) emulation of the Akai MPC Live's "Vintage Effects" on the orginal machines: Akai MPC60, Akai MPC3000 & the E-mu SP1200. 'Reverse' in the sense that the effect on the MPC Live is an effect, an emulation seeking to make the sample sound as if processed by one of these vintage samplers. In the spirit of "Stay At Home," I've sampled different components to these three machines and assembled them on the Akai MPC2500 in order to program and sequence the beat.

The push for this video came from PEK AG: they've just posted the PEK challenge, asking to demonstrate one's creativity AT HOME. Well, mine is less creative than nerdy, but what the heck..
