This new mix showcases the sound I hear in my head when I think about a beautiful hybrid of breakbeat, techno and electro. It's also representative of the kind of Elite Force sets you'll hear from me in the live arena, as I return to the fray in 2023 after a four-year absence!

To craft a mix that had the exact feel I was looking for, I used 24 tracks in some shape or form, pulling many of them apart, rearranging them and adding liberal ly from my own extensive sample library. This set includes 11 Elite Force VIP edits, several acapellas / acidapellas and lashings of breakbeat-techno-electro love.

I haven’t released a set in a while but I really played a lot of my current favorite music and some really firm new directions / sounds for me - a mix of broken beat and uk influences, often switching from melodic and vibey to bass-y and spattered with choppy vocals throughout.

This year was the 25th anniversary of Breakfast of Champions and the 15th anniversary of my first time DJing the best party of the year. It was a thrill in 2009 and remains a thrill to this day. Built around an infectious, Grime-flecked synth riff, drums that sit somewhere between Funky and Techno, and a Pirate Radio sample from deep in the Bristol memory banks, 'Wile Up' continues the Hissian evolution into hitherto underexplored territory of the 140 BPM landscape, while still being an annoying shit...

Similarly, on the flip, 'YUH!' slaps iconic rave stabs over thumping 909 rimshots, but sneakily works in some Pulse X-inspired bass. Annoying he may well be, but he's definitely making some of the most exciting UK dance music around at the moment.

Krafty Kuts & Skool Of Thought - Kiss 100 FM Breakbeat Show - 19.1.2002

Starting back in 1998 (I think) was the Kiss 100 FM Breakbeat Show hosted by Danny McMillan a true advocate of the breakbeat genre from it's early beginnings and who even had his own label. This mix from 2002 is from Krafty Kuts & Skool Of Thought who at the time ran a night in Brighton UK called Supercharged, a place where the now dons of breakbeat used to play every weekend. The Supercharged night soon turned into a label and saw some of the best Nuskool Breaks tunes of the day. This is a pretty cool mix when tunes were a lot more simple.
