Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @unhumangr for its sixty eighth episode of Amplify Series.

Unhuman is the Berlin-based electronic and experimental project of Manos Simotas. 

He is also the founder of Liber Null Berlin, which has played a critical role of unifying the freedom of arts in a conceptual event in the scene and also operates as a record label. Expanding beyond Berlin, Liber Null held events with performance arts and music all around the world including Athens, Paris, Tokyo, Seoul and beyond. 

Started in 2012 in Athens with his first release „Emperor Black“ on tape, he evolved through different genres ultimately finding his own unique voice in experimental and dark electronics. Keeping his roots in post-punk, Unhuman released on labels such as BITE, L.I.E.S. records, Instruments Of Discipline, Veleno Viola, Amok Tapes and Strange Therapy. A regular mainstay of major clubs in Berlin, Unhuman has performed all around Europe, Asia and South America and holds the artist in residency at Constant Value in Seoul, South Korea. 

Currently Unhuman holds residencies at the infamous Khidi Club in Tbilisi/Georgia and Olam Collective in Bratislava.

Esto posiblemente se deba a la estética radical de la máquina que Ancient Methods ha convertido en un sonido característico inconfundible desde hace más de una década. Since its emergence the project the has been often labelled as “pitch black techno war funk“ (quoted after an early Boomkat review) and closely associated to what later on would be tagged as the “industrial techno“ movement. This is possibly due to the radical machine aesthetics Ancient Methods has developed into an unmistakable trademark sound, since more than a decade. However the mechanical framework is - no more, no less - a physical ambassador for a deeper content, there is a profound human emotionality enclosed in the rhythmic shell.

Voxnox Podcast 209 - Ancient Methods

This mix has been made with a “collage” type of work in mind, using small bits from a lot of different tracks to make an entirely new one. This is already something I have been experimenting with when I DJ but I wanted to take things a bit further with a more precise and surgical approach which a studio mix allows for. To achieve that, I've reworked and edited 99% of the songs I used, it took ages but was a very interesting and rewarding process that basically enabled me to make whole new edits of my all time favorite tracks.
