Desde su aparición, el proyecto ha sido a menudo etiquetado como “pitch black techno war funk“  (citado después de una reseña inicial de Boomkat) y estrechamente asociado a lo que más tarde sería etiquetado como el movimiento "tecno industrial". Esto posiblemente se deba a la estética radical de la máquina que Ancient Methods ha convertido en un sonido característico inconfundible desde hace más de una década. Since its emergence the project the has been often labelled as “pitch black techno war funk“ (quoted after an early Boomkat review) and closely associated to what later on would be tagged as the “industrial techno“ movement. This is possibly due to the radical machine aesthetics Ancient Methods has developed into an unmistakable trademark sound, since more than a decade. However the mechanical framework is - no more, no less - a physical ambassador for a deeper content, there is a profound human emotionality enclosed in the rhythmic shell.

Parisian artist, ILLNURSE in the mix for the next ‘Renegade Session’ bringing you one hour of no-nonsense techno.

A prominent figure in the Parisian underground, his sets have landed in clubs such as Griessmuehle, Kompass Klub, Rex Club, Concrete, Club OST, About Blank, Rote Sonne and more, solidifying his reputation as a great Dj. 
Recently we see him taking a step back to the basics of Techno and re-discover his love for a more raw and hypnotic sound. 

“For the last 6-7 years, i’ve known ILLNURSE as an artist that can provide the explosive element that you needed for your rave. A sound that was hard and energetic, well suited to the famous Parisian raves that helped define the modern landscape of the scene during the past decade. 
So it was a big surprise to me when i recently found out that he is taking a different approach with his Dj sets and productions nowadays. That got me instantly intrigued to hear what that new sound would be. 
I am very happy that i asked him to record a set for the series cause the mix that he provided is straight up quality.

Ancient Methods _ HÖR - November 15 _ 2024

We are very pleased to welcome Second Tension as our 36th guest on the Kaos London podcast series with a live mix of new music created for the Kaos London showcase at Astron Club, Athens in July 2024.

Second Tension is a project by Stavros Tilkeridis, a Greek artist and DJ. Stavros started creating music back in the early nineties, with next to no access to the outside world. He started with tape loops, not too dissimilar to those by Pierre Schaffer, and got his hands on his first sampler, Mpc 2000xl, by the late nineties. Stavros was introduced to rave culture in the early two-thousands and experimented his way through them, using his music to search for a deeper, hidden meaning. He started Second Tension in 2016 as an attempt to capture a progressive spirit in electronic music, combining primitive and industrial aesthetics. With 3 EPs and an LP  on Persephonic Sirens, and several  released on OSM Tapes, and Monolith.
