We are so excited to guest one of the best artists in EBM scene for us! BROKEN ENGLISH CLUB! Is a project by Oliver Ho that explores the “dark friction” between man and machine. It has spawned three albums, most recently february 2021, White Rats III on L.I.E.S., which soundtracked the desolate scenes of his surroundings with eerie experimental techno. Heavy on apocalyptic synths and doom laden drums, and occasionally run through with melodic optimism, it’s a brilliant testament to Ho’s evocative studio skills after ten years of making more straight up techno as Raudive.

Elements of EBM and industrial come into focus on these albums, as they do in the most recent mix he has put together for us. In just over an hour, plenty of angular grooves, slapping drums and cold, chilly metallic surfaces unfold in dystopian fashion. We really hope we can have him with us soon.

Unhuman is the Berlin-based electronic and experimental project of Manos Simotas. 

Started in 2012 in Athens with his first release "Emperor Black"on tape, Unhuman evolved through different genres ultimately finding his own unique voice in experimental and dark electronics. Keeping his root in post-punk, Unhuman released on labels such as Instruments Of Discipline, Veleno Viola, BITE, Amok Tapes and Strange Therapy. 

A regular mainstay of major clubs in Berlin, Unhuman has performed all around Europe, Asia and South America and holds the artist in residency at Constant Value in Seoul, South Korea.

Unhuman is also the founder of Liber Null Berlin, which has played a critical role of unifying the freedom of arts in a conceptual event in the scene and also operates as a record label. Expanding beyond Berlin, Liber Null held events with performance arts and music all around the world including Athens, Paris, Tokyo, Seoul and beyond.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of what will probably be my favourite ever Plex party - PCM2. 

So please sit back (or pump your fists in the air) and enjoy an hour live set from the immense Ugandan Methods AKA Regis and Ancient Methods. 

It was only the second time they performed live under this moniker with the first being in Berlin a few months previously.

This will be the beginning of a series of archival releases from the Plex vaults which will include DJ & live sets from all of our parties between 2006-2018. They are recordings straight from the desk and bar editing have had minimal treatment applied to keep them as true to the way they sounded when initially performed on the night.

Reclaim Your City 186 | Phase Fatale (Berlin)

Phase Fatale is the techno project of Berlin-based DJ and producer Hayden Payne from New York. Coming from a background playing in post-punk bands over the past years, Phase Fatale is an artistic endeavor that serves as an outlet for his own interpretation of darker, harder and industrial-influenced techno. Brutal productions confronted by sinister atmospheres create a sound imprint that has mutated into a new electronic identity. Rigid drumming, cold synths and bleak samples - the image of future war.

Phase Fatale’s DJ sets rework the connections between techno, post-punk and industrial while his live sets achieve an engrossing sound through the heavy use of machines.

Phase Fatale has released on labels such as Avant! and Aufnahme + Wiedergabe since 2014 documenting his ever-evolving output. 2016 sees him continuing on to Jealous God, the label co-run by Regis, Silent Servant and James Ruskin.

Since then she regulary plays Worldwide and well known clubs like Tresor, about:blank, IFZ, Arena Club or last but not least, Suicide Circus, where she is a frequent host of the widely known Rituals series. Moreover she’s a co-founder of the project VERZERRUNG, which is mainly focused on the Industrial/Wave party series at the the renowned Project Lab in Poznan (Poland) besides that she is a frequent resident at ORDEN / Hirscheneck in Basel (Switzerland).

Above all that, Melania is firmly focused on her own productions, which so far have been released on aufnahme+wiedergabe, Instruments Of Discipline,Oraculo Records, Subsist Records, Last Embassy, Labrynth and Round.

Her eclectic sets are mostly based on energetic Industrial, Techno, EBM, Rhytmic Noise, Rave, Wave etc. Means heavy genres which she periodically combines with a creative touch of uplifting and emotional melodies/vocals or unexpected change of atmosphere. Her selection is completely focused on her feeling, thereby it stays beyond limitations to a specific genre.

This sound evokes what is beyond the words, reaches directly to the heart and unleashes the soul. Each of her sets is a story with a complex plot, keeping her audience in constant suspense and anticipation. Her unique vibe relies on unpredictability and constantly being on the move.
