Producer/DJ Alen Ramirez aka Requiem. was born in the country of Chile, raised in the southwest. Requiem has always been inspired by Hip Hop and the worlds of science fiction. He bridges the two to create a certain friction of outer space hood beats.
He has played support for various well known talent such as: Bricksquash, Vide, Fixate, Doctor Jeep, Yheti, DMVU, Mr Bill, Digital Vagabond,Oxossi, Thought Process, Cloud-D, SuDs, Minnesota, CharlestheFirst & The Lab Group. All of these were either at The Black Box main room or the original Meow Wolf.

this mix happened mostly from shuffle magic on a spotify playlist that i had going this past weekend, and just as the sun came out after a rain storm. it's a crazy time in the cosmos and everyone is going through intense things. this mix is a representation of the depth of emotions we can feel and the realization that we have been given such a beautiful gift to be alive on this earth here and now. and yet, it's all going away so fast. each new thing being born and dying. it's hopeless, you know. the whole thing. but perhaps that's what let's us truly appreciate it. and the recognition of the preciousness of it all makes us want to go deeper and to fight to keep what we still have.

"nah wey amo" means "it hurts to receive the breath of life" or more poetically, "the beautiful sadness." it is a greeting and a goodbye and a term of endearment.

the language is called "ahn wey" or "appreciating the breath of life"

one of the central axioms in this language is the phrase "zho na ta," which means "i know this hurts"

so it has been my profound experience that, when we accept that this life is certain death, and decide to look further into the places where we feel hurt or sad, we are given the strength to say "yeah, this fucking hurts, but i'm going to do it anyway." because there is such beauty here, even if it is fleeting, and because it's the pain, the emotion, and the impermanence in this earthly realm that gives us a meaningful vibrant life.
