Born and raised in Cologne, started DJing in 1987 at Clubs like Cafe Miami, Galaxy or Salute, DJ Funky Fresh Mike is well known in the Local Scene and beyond. 

Whether with Projects like ''Space Beatz'' in the early 90's, or ''Domstrasse Prod.'' with his Partner DJ Schneider, this man is able to cross genres in the right way.

Born and Raised in Brooklyn, Mandel Turner’s roots can be traced to The First Church of God in Christ gospel choir where his rich baritone voice was first discovered and nurtured. Later on the influences of early 80's Club Culture and DJ's such as Larry Levan, Tee Scott, Tony Humphries, further expanded the range to which his “musical voice” could be put to use. And thus a DJ was born. Emerging forms such as Disco and New Wave in addition to the more established genres of R&B, Soul and Rock opened his ears to the richness that is MUSIC and forever cemented his desire to become a part of this art form. 

After a number of musical collaborations in New York, that included recording with famed disco producer / songwriter Patrick Adams (Inner Life, Musique, Phreek) and performing live at clubs like Tracks NYC, Mandel was anxious to seek new experiences and traveled to Paris in 1987. 
Famed model Katoucha, got Mandel his first gig in Paris at Le Palace which lead to his residency 1987 - 1989. And the other Parisian institutions were soon to follow i.e. Les Bains Douches, Regines, Rex Club, Club de l’Etoile, Folies Pigalle, Le Queen, Le Casbah and Studio A, where he was to do the very first House Party in Paris (House Music All Night Long).
 
But perhaps his most significant collaboration would be with the renowned producer impresario writer, drummer Cerrone. This 13 Year collaboration has endured to present day with turner mc’ing, singing and traveling the world with Barbara Tucker, James D-Train Williams, Nile Rodgers who also collaborated with Cerrone (freak out at the Montreux Jazz Festival).

Throughout his time in Paris Mandel has released Save Me with Sven Love & Catalan FC, I Cry with Llorca aka Art of Tones, Can’t You See The Sunshine Through The Rain as Common Nature, Phase Two with Playin’ 4 The city, In The Spirit with Kalk, The Soul Of My Love with LifeLike & After All with Franck Roger to name a few. The list goes on…

Berlin has been on his radar since 2008 when Mandel started visiting old friends in the city or to do the odd gig here and there. But ultimately it was getting to know the city via these old friendships that eventually cemented his 2014 decision to make Berlin his home.

Last January's Diogo @Strausz 7" Emancipacao was one of the stand-out moments of 2021. Now @razor-n-tape and Diogo have revisited the release this time on 12" with extended versions of both tracks from the 7". Taking things a step further they have also drafted in Chicago legend Ron Trent on remix duties for Emancipacao taking this one off to the finest club floors in 2022 and well beyond.

To celebrate the release we asked Diogo to lay down a mix for our selectors series and he has created a magnificent entry for the series combining classic 80's electro, soulful house, funk and party Latin with house bubblers. It's everything that we love about djing effortlessly crossing many genres.

Started with his own Productions in the late 80's on Labels like ''Underground'' (who was the biggest sublabel of D.J. International Records)or Derricks May's Label ''Transmat'', K-Alexi was already moving in the right circles at the age of 12, befriending Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy whilst frequenting the famous Warehouse. His upbringing in Chicago in the 70s and 80s meant that he was exposed to a range of genres and different styles of music including Stevie Wonder, Prince, Curtis Mayfield and David Huff. These same names would prove to be the roots of his influences.

With regularly releases under different synonyms since the 80's till today and the being regarded classic ''Essence Of A Dream'', the Chicago Hero delivers us today a 60 minutes Mix of his goodies.

Stepping up next is party lover, dancer, DJ, co-host of 'Endless Groove', a non-profit community driven party & initiator of 'Black Is...', a platform championing POC artists: moe. 

Forever inspired & in love with the communal joy manifested on dancefloors, he's a globetrotter - musically as you'll hear & literally, originally hailing from Sudan, raised in Abu Dhabi & Dubai, he's also lived in New Orleans, Kuala Lumpur, Stockholm & now based in Berlin. The mix in his own words:

"I really didn't have a clear picture for what I wanted to play for Just For The Night, when a friend messaged to tell me that one of our favourite directors, Shinichirō Watanabe of Cowboy Bebop fame, was directing a new anime scored by Floating Points(!!!). I knew immediately that I wanted to start with 'Tank!', the opening soundtrack of Cowboy Bebop which was my first introduction to Watanabe, the incredible composer Yoko Kanno, as well as the world of Japanese jazz.

The energy & explosiveness of that track remains so utterly infectious, an absolute shot of adrenaline. Everything fell into place from there as I used that groove as an inspiration & guide while playing music that I feel captures its essence across different genres. Old & new favourites here, with the common thread being that they'd make me throw mad shapes on a dance floor.

Thanks to Dust Down Records for the invite, was a lot of fun playing this one x"
