This song developed from spending time reflecting upon back and forth in the moment and past experiences. Fueled by heavy rainclouds and clearcut forests bordering second-growth forests, I had been wondering how current events led me to that very moment, how I could escape staying trapped in restaurant and warehouse jobs my whole life. I would much rather work in the wilderness and try to encourage the feeling to others the feelings you can only receive during deep reflection in nature.

Northern Rains

This song came from my second visit to a traditional Native-American Sweat Lodge in the Colombia Gorge in Oregon. At that point I was taken by the beauty of the rituals and how specific they were, especially this time around. At one point we were encouraged to ask our "spirit animals" for guidance. I did not receive any communication and had been stuck up in my head with my thoughts racing. Struggling and nearly passing out from the heat, one thing came to me...  Your thoughts aren't necessarily you, they're more of a defense mechanism and the best thing to do is just be open to love. Everyone I was with that evening were not only there for themselves, but they were there with everybody, supporting each other. It did not matter where you came from or why you were there, it was the fact that you were there. The lodge had taken some of my burden from me that night and replaced it with a larger capacity for love and openness.
