Solid Grooves unveil their 2022 'Ibiza Sampler' as Michael Bibi and PAWSA invite seven of the label's residents and regulars for a huge summer offering.

2022 is shaping up to be a year to remember for Solid Grooves as they celebrate ten years in style with a host of stand-out shows, including OFF Sonar and Kappa Futur, alongside recent appearances at Space Miami, Fabric and Printworks.

However, the crown jewel in the programming undeniably comes via their biggest Ibiza season to date. With a move to renowned institution DC10 backed by lineups stacked full of talent, the collective only adds to things on the label front as they reveal their latest summer compilation. Opening the season in style, the nine-track 'Ibiza Sampler' welcomes the arrival of a stacked V/A with fresh heat from close friends and ever-impressing regulars.

In usual fashion, co-founders Michael Bibi and PAWSA contribute a pair of heavily-requested signature cuts, alongside peak-time and after-hours anthems from residents Dennis Cruz, Eddy M, Reelow, Ramin Rezaie and Bassel Darwish, plus label signees Classmatic and JUST2.

‘Baby New’ by ACA (YU) brings home the bacon with a deep and funky roll out featuring brandy-flavoured R&B samples giving you that look across the dancefloor. Live and direct from Ibizan scenery, the Serbian DJ and vocalist gets things shaking like a summertime cocktail, so drink it in.


Kidoo doing the ‘Cha Cha’ is a 100% carnival trigger, luxurious Latin house from the respected Romanian spinner that’s full of babbling bongos and chatty horns – a groove gliding around the sands, sized up by larger-than-life vocals looking to get lucky. 
 
Up next bringing some Malaga magic, Spega follows his own advice on ‘Dontstoppp’. Launched from a throbbing bassline to crack clubs wide open with, stick-em-up samples and side orders of splintered sounds are programmed to bow down to that laser-guided low end.
 
Bouncing out of Brazil, Techin’s ‘Doux Jazzy’ reaches out to a laidback Parisian bar, taking in vocal samples of nonchalant style, and smart splashes of twinkling keys and warm chords. The track forges ahead with kicks and bass in a race to the terrace.


More South American flavour concludes the EP; the ‘Balsamic’ flavour belonging to the Argentinean Tides, brings the funk and an understated grace to the table: house hard at work that’s shaped by casual keys bubbling from below, and a jazziness that’ll delight crowds getting their sunshine shuffle on. An EP sure to be stuck on stereos and playlists seven days a week.

One of the most prolific tech-house Argentinean producer Jay de Lys returns to the label with 2 powerful but elegant tech-house tracks: fat basslines, detailed arrangements, great hook choices. Conspiracy in Sant Antony was born during my time in Ibiza, inspired by the energy and atmosphere of Sant Antony. The melodies came naturally in that moment, carrying the vibe of the island, while the creole vocal samples fell perfectly into place, giving the track its unique character. It’s a blend of deep rhythm, hypnotic layers, and a touch of mystery — a snapshot of my Ibiza experience turned into sound.

As a fellow label head and respected voice on the tech house scene, Hector Couto is welcomed with open arms from Solardo and the Sola label once more for a compelling new release in the form of the Salimo EP. 

Following on from the Lil Old Man EP that released last year on the esteemed imprint, Hector Couto raises the bar for 2019 as the Salimo EP kicks his year off to a prolific start. Lead EP track Salimo is driven by steely drums and clever percussion whilst punchy b side Doin It features prominent synths and a captivating vocal loop, demonstrating Hector Couto’s diverse range and ability that he continues to carry throughout his productions. 

Spanish born Hector Couto continues to cement himself as an established driving force on the dance circuit, with a unique sound that blends the jack of Chicago with the atmospheric roots of early techno and his own signature stamp that results in a fresh sound throughout his work. Having had releases on the like of Hot Creations, 20/20 Vision, Moon Harbour and Viva Music as well as heading his own Roush label, it comes as no surprise to realise Hector Couto is often featured on Resident Advisor’s most charted. His Roush label has allowed Hector to support admired and respected artists including DJ W!LD and Steve Lawler as well as championing upcoming talents, demonstrating himself as an influential and leading name amongst his peers. Whether you’ve seen him play at Pacha in Barcelona, Amnesia in Ibiza or We Are Festival in London, Hector Couto can work any crowd with his playful skill that is perfectly suited to any club or festival and we can’t wait to see where he takes his sound for the year ahead.

Industry heavyweights Yousef, Alan Fitzpatrick and Avision team up for an astounding 2 track EP on Yousef’s Circus Recordings

The EP opens up with the dancefloor-destroying title track. A steady, up-tempo and commanding drum pattern builds the energy along with subtle synths that work their way around the rhythm. Enigmatic vocal samples flicker into the mix with high-octane echoing synth stabs cascading in halfway through, taking the track to dizzying heights.

‘Twilight Dance’ follows, kicking things off with dreamy percussion and shuffled shakers that welcome the arrival of firm 4/4 kicks. Built around a beautifully crafted jumping synth line the trio build the track with finesse layering punchy claps and zingy cymbals, punctured by occasional high-energy drones for a dose of pure euphoria.

Next up this winter on Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records imprint is UK DJ & producer, Ki Creighton, with his debut 'Inhale' EP. Ki is no stranger to the House circuit, on the scene since 1991 and now majorly influencing matters both north and south of the border. With releases on respected labels including Elrow, Snatch, Circus, 8bit, Toolroom Trax and of course his own label, Under No Illusion, this talented DJ / producer is showing no signs of slowing down. The 'Inhale' EP showcases Ki's signature sound; percolating rhythms, crisp and energetic percussion, playful rise and fall basslines, hip swinging claps and vocal chants that ebb and flow throughout the compositions.
