Thanks to BTS for the inspiration to do this lol. This was originally supposed to be a joke, but idk, I put a lot of work into it and it does have some serious holiday spirit so now I don't know what it is~

Additionally, what's featured here was my original concept artwork for death drive (with a little holiday remixing of its own), which I haven't had a chance to share up until now!

A song from Mariode from the upcoming EP, "m+" out 2/25/22. After seeing success in creating the soothing yet mysterious HoloVista OST, Mariode is ready to dance again. The m+ EP is full of high moments like this single "freebleed" which takes cues from a couple internet genres of dance music. While the kicks, rises, and percussion may be of typical EDM, it's the way that Mariode stifles and squishes the synth leads and counter melodies to give them this frantic urgency that would be more common in a hyperpop song. Monastery Rec. is honored to return with the second installment to it's Various Artists 'Vari-Tech' compilation series. Hosting a number of returning names from our previous 'FIRST MASS' [2020] compilation and the labels catalog, while simultaneously introducing a handful of new faces, 'SECOND COMING' delivers a range of different takes on a single concept, 'Glitch'. With no other constraints or major direction, each artist was given the freedom to contribute a track built on that theme alone, infusing each of their unique flavors. The results yielded a plethora of creatively different interpretations, some more abstract, while others - very on the nose. Through this compilation release, you will hear many literal glitch effects, lots of which are very electronic, like a device breaking, while others fall on the more 'organic' side, sounding more akin to that of a neon tadpole spawning ground...or something like that. We'll let you be the judge.
