Incidentally the bassline and the vocals come from Edwin Starr’s 1977 classic funk tune ‘Everybody Needs Love’. Edwin Starr is also who I've drawn in this picture! Enjoy! 😊

I was asked to write a track recently for the ‘Pretty Shady’ campaign in Australia in an effort to help raise awareness for the dangers of skin cancer. The track itself is a celebration of the sunshine but at the same time (via Andrea Kiriwin’s lyrics) it’s also about the dangers of the sun and not protecting yourself from it (‘we love the sunshine but it’s the reason we burn…’). The vibe of the tune is summery and ravey with a solid 90’s breakbeat feel (no doubt heavily influenced by my new Original Rude Boy side project! https://soundcloud.com/original-rude-boy-146533804). I’m also working on a more upfront club mix at the moment which is going to be a lot of fun plus we are running a remix comp. Stay tuned! KK x

Break To The Future Vol. 3 (Mixed by Kid Kenobi) - Various Artists ***FREE DOWNLOAD***

As part of our up coming 'Ten' project (which celebrates ten years of MC Shureshock and I having worked together) we are digging through the digital crates to find a bunch of old mixes we have done. This first one is a personal fave of mine. It's a mix I did for a magazine called 'Remix' in 2000 and was one of the first 'official' mixes I ever did. It may be from 2000, and it may now be 10 years old, but damn the beats still sound fresh! Oh and this was pre-Ableton days! i.e. it was done by mixing records together on two Technics turntables and a mixer (via pasting a hundred million takes together mind you!). Anyways, download and enjoy a bit of our ten year history! Much love, KK x.
