Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2009, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, through Skankandbass Records we release a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

We’re extremely lucky to be able to promote a wide range of international talent; and SNB054 is no different, coming to us from Serbian up-and-comer Nemy.   Having caught our eye through a series of well-crafted releases on Fokuz, Locked Concept & Terra Firma among others, he has established himself as one to watch in a flourishing Eastern European scene.   He brings his accomplished sound design to Skankandbass Records on ‘No More / Voices’.

This year has been tough for everyone, but also for us. We've had to push releases back, we saw how all of our events for this year were cancelled and a lot of changes and personal situations within the team affected to the project. But we are coming back stronger for 2021!

A powerful cathartic energy is coded deep into the dynamic sounds of innovative young Bristol-based drum & bass artist Kidsonic. A sense of tension and release and strong themes of overcoming challenges and articulating emotions are all tightly coiled into his minimal signature. It’s a signature that has so far been supported by the likes of Noisia, Philth and Hadley and championed by respected labels such as Ekou, Four Corners, inhabit, Hanzom, Incurzion, Monk Audio, Impact Music and many other cutting edge, new-generation stables.

For Kidsonic it’s the sound of total escapism. Born blind, and severely vision impaired to this day, his relationship with frequencies and sound runs deep into everything he does. Brought up in a highly musical family, tinkering with production since the age of 12 and writing lyrics from his early teens, his creations are a reflection of everything in his life soundtrack and his hectic west country environment. Everything from reggae to Bangra to heavy metal to dubstep has all been thrown in the Kidsonic pot during his 23 laps around the sun so far… And it’s all galvanised and concentrated into the unique beguiling deep groove fusion you hear today.

Compounded by his perspective and experiences living with autistic spectrum disorder, Kidsonic isn’t just making music for the dancefloor here… He’s making music to understand the world, himself and how to navigate it. The catharsis never ends.
