‘Someone New’ not only marks Kiera Starr’s debut single, it is also the lead single from her debut album ‘Whole Lotta Baggage’.

The UK based singer/songwriter & producer, takes the popular song ‘Something New’ by girlband ‘Girls Aloud’ and takes the chorus lyrics as a sample in this “fiery, heartbreak song about finding independence”.

“All I want is something new, something I can hold on to. I don’t want to talk, I just want to dance” turns into “all I want is someone new, someone I can hold on to, I don’t want to talk, I just want to dance.” 

Kiera speaking on the song, “I wanted to pay homage to my favourite girl band and use one of their songs in my debut single.” Kiera goes on to explain why she chose this song as her debut, “it’s such a powerful, heartbreak song, it’s all about finding that independence after a breakup, wanting to move away, change your identity and have a fresh start, that’s how I felt…” 

Kiera is about to release her debut project on SoundCloud ‘Whole Lotta Baggage’. The album title comes from her carrying her trauma her entire life and dishing the dirt on everything she’s been through, all into one project. The upcoming album speaks on different topics such as heartbreak, eating disorders, drug addiction, alcohol addiction, sexual assault, depression & suicide.

Kiera Starr returns with her latest release ‘Cut Deep’ which makes the second single from her upcoming debut album ‘Whole Lotta Baggage’. 

The song discusses heartache from a relationship that broke down, and how she depended on drug use to get through it. The track also discusses dating someone who deals with suicidal thoughts and actions, and how it affected her mentally. 

The song comes after her debut single release ‘Someone New’ which peaked at #12 on Pop/Rock Top 40. She has also been played on US radio show ‘Radio Wig-Wam’.

Kiera is set to release her debut digital album ‘Whole Lotta Baggage’ which is described as a “trauma dump” discussing her experiences of drug addiction, alcohol addiction, sexual assault, body dismorphia, eating disorders, heartache and depression, through pop, indie music.

Kiera Starr’s third release ‘Skinny’ from her upcoming debut project ‘Whole Lotta Baggage’. 

The song explores struggles with body dysmorphia, and contains subjects that may be sensitive to some listeners. 

“I’ve always struggled with the way I’ve looked. A lot of it came from just growing up, always comparing myself to other people, and wanting to be the best version of myself. As I got older I think it got worse, I was in a toxic relationship, and he would often shame me on my looks; and pick at me insecurities, and I think it had more of an affect on me than I realised. It wasn’t until I wrote this song, that I realised how bad it had affected me mentally…”

‘Skinny’ follows from Kiera’s previous singles ‘Someone New’ & ‘Cut Deep’ which charted at #12 & #13 on SoundCloud’s Pop/Rock Top 40!

The song discusses the topic of heartbreak, and how although her friends warned her not to go back to the relationship, she ran back everytime, because she loved him. “It’s the typical situation, that everyone can relate to, you know that they’re not good for you, but because you have this connection, and you love them deeply, you believe that it can work, so you run back to them every single time they apologise for what they did.”
