Lush and brooding, like a storm moving into a swamp, ‘If Not To Give A Fantasy’ is the latest album from New York’s hardcore queen Kilbourne. Releasing on her label Hammerhead Records, Kilbourne is pulling back, reducing the maximalism of contemporary hardcore to a sparing, bristly, textural gabber. Double BBL cheekily swaps upbeat and downbeat, regular and double time, skronchy acid and clobbering hardcore.
