MÖWE is a recently founded project by the Vienna based artists Mel and Clemens, who previously played together in the band Mary lost her Pathos. While the duo’s indie roots still shine through in the song writing, MÖWE’s sound is largely electronic and best described as melodious and emotionally uplifting. Here, on SVT119, they present two of their outstanding productions, while Björn Störig contributes a beefy remix. 	

The title track ‘Inside’ focuses on harmonic piano and guitar hooks that float over a bouncing beat and crisp percussion. As the duo’s heartbreakingly beautiful vocals climax in a bass-driven chorus, we find ourselves lost in a sea of bewitching sound. ‘Seven Days’ is then introduced by delayed vox and drops into an airy arrangement backed-up by Mel and Clem’s longing voices. Stunning! Lastly, SVT mainstay Björn Störig gives ‘Seven Days’ the dance floor treatment by pitching down the original’s vocals and laying them over an elastic deep house bassline.

The next release on Light my Fire comes courtesy of Zurich’s Fat Sushi, who recently impressed with their ‘My Place’ EP on Off Recordings. On ‘Hypnotic’ the duo presents three resourceful club tracks consisting of elastic bass lines, epic breaks and a good pinch of humour to keep it fresh. 	

‘Problems’ is crafted for the peak time: areal synths chase over a plump bed of bass, elevated by a looped guitar riff and sweet vocal hooks. Next, ‘Hypnotic’ sways through the night, lighting up the dance floor with feel-good vibes. Stefan Mint, who has previously release on Groove On, takes the track’s title quite literal and delivers a hypnotic tech house remix made for the wee hours. Great stuff! Lastly, we are treated to a healthy portion of 80s power, as ‘What You Need’ combines retro synths with modern house sounds.

Both children of the illustrious nightlife of trend capital Zurich, Adrian Flavor and Samy Jackson – better know as Animal Trainer – made a name for themselves with their Rakete parties, held mostly at their home base, the chic Hive club. As dedicated music lovers and passionate entertainers, it was a natural progression for the duo to channel their constant appetite for music and endless parties into their own sounds. Thus, their first baby steps were released on Stil vor Talent in the form of ‘Talkshow’ in 2008. Today, in February 2014, after numerous releases on renowned labels such as Katermukke, Dantze, Off Recordings or their own Hive Audio, the joyous duo is presenting the debut album ‘Wide’ on SVT. Here, on the first of two EPs, two of the album’s highlights are featured alongside high calibre remixes by Oliver Koletzki, Oliver Schories and Zombie Disco Squad.

Animal Trainer show a completely new side to their productions on the excellent electronica track ‘The Walk’, on which dub chords pulsate through a broken beat structure and creaking synths. The fragile piano does, however, steal the show here. While Oliver Koletzki decides to significantly up the tempo on his epic, trance-inspired rework, Oliver Schories opts for a contemporary deep house interpretation built around a low-slung bass-line and emotive chords. ‘Shane’ is a classicistic house homage, alluring the listener with its springy step and feel-good vocal sample – key features that Zombie Disco Squad emphasise on their sprightly rude-boy remix.

Embedded in an adventurous landscape on the edge of the Thüringian Highlands, is Saalfeld. The best known and richly rewarding Fairy Grottoes are the most colorful grottoes in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Aside from the famous caves, Saalfeld also lays claim to Thomas Stieler. Here he lives and breathes, walks his dog and puts blood, sweat and tears into the beats. Regularly he switches on his outboard motor and motors down the Saale. Sometimes he even takes an excursion to the Ilm river. To add, he is also the proud owner of secure anchorage in Weimar (Polynom).

 
In Jena there is always a good and solid sound in his ear. He has always been a Fan. FAT was of the opinion that he should stick around! Institutionalized on techno and (for years now) one of the top DJs around, he hangs his hat on House. His debut for FAT is not his first release. He wants to rediscover house with his own flavor. Thomas feels this unending spirit and the timeless power of house music, which can bring about movement and laughing faces at the same time. Here he has concocted four fine-groove Stielletto's that wont leave you wanting in regards to House. Something more than official, as a first FAT release, issued forth from Mr. Stieler. 

Eingebettet in landschaftlich reizvoller Umgebung am Rande des Thüringer Schiefergebirges liegt Saalfeld. Die bekannteste, lohnende Sehenswürdigkeit sind die Feengrotten mit den laut Guinnessbuch farbenreichsten Schaugrotten der Welt. Außer berühmten Kleckerhöhlen hat Saalfeld Thomas Stieler. Hier atmet er, führt den Hund aus und gibt sich mit Leib und Seele den Beats hin. Regelmäßig schmeißt er seinen Heckmotor an und schippert die Saale herunter. Gern setzt er auch mal zur Ilm über. Er ist stolzer Besitzer  eines festen Ankerplatzes in Weimar (Polynom).

In Jena schallte es ihm immer schon deftig und liebenswert zugleich ins Ohr. Er bezeichnet sich selbst schon lange als Fan. FAT meint nun, Moment mal, Freundchen, hier geblieben!Mit Techno sozialisiert und seit Jahren als Top-DJ unterwegs, heißt seine Arche heute House. Sein Debüt für FAT ist nicht seine erste Veröffentlichung. Er will House nicht neu erfinden, aber seinen persönlichen eigenen Teint verpassen. Thomas spürt  diesen unendlichen Spirit und die zeitlose Kraft in Housemusik, welche Bewegung und lächelnde Gesichter zugleich erzeugen kann. So hat er hier vier finest groove Stiellettos ausgeheckt, da beißt der House kein Faden ab. Ein mehr als amtliches erstes FAT-Release darf Herrn Stieler hier bescheinigt werden.

Next up, Joachim Pastor turns ‘Move Me’ into a tour de force of musical wizardry, while Jiggler gets locked deep in the groove.

The Cork, Ireland based DJ and producer Colm K is a 2004 graduate of the Red Bull Music Academy, and has been making waves for a few years now with releases including his Bastard Jazz debut 12" 'Basics', heralded 7” and 10” records on sublabel BSTRD Boots (the latter of which is sold-out and regularly changes hands for upwards of $50 on eBay), and his recent shared-billing with Mr. Scruff on a Hypnotic Brass Ensemble remix 12” (on Choice Cuts).

On 'The Love' EP, Colm’s musical vision has truly matured with a fully realized 12” that draws on such disparate influences as Herbie Hancock, 80’s boogie, J-Dilla, vintage House music, Floating Points and Q-Tip productions. Art for the EP comes from graphic artist Donal Thorton, notable for Onra’s 'Long Distance' cover, and many of the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble covers.
