Uniting the artists, venues, labels, and manufacturers that make up a city’s music industry on their own terms is vital to its survival.  MusicPortland is a new advocacy group for those who make up Portland's vast music ecosystem. Members of the group's board join us to discuss their philosophy, goals, and progress. Will interviews James from Kill Rock Stars, and they discuss four songs that hit #1 on the Modern Rock charts in September 1990.  Songs under discussion include "Stop" by Jane's Addiction, "Every Beat of the Heart" by The Railway Children, "Suicide Blonde" by INXS, and "Never Enough" by The Cure.

This episode has been updated to include the original album version of "Every Beat of the Heart", since Will and James  mistakenly listened to an acoustic version during the original recording of the episode.
