Death Of A Dream

What it's with me often on full blast?
And always taking life as a joke?
It hurts many and it cannot last
A wildfire starts; I smell the smoke

How can I fan out the rising flames
Before they rage and take out the terrain? I don't want life to
Be slain nor feel any pain
Because of my own disdain for why some must take up the reins

A change of my scenery
Is what I need to keep the critters
From the deadly fire that may grow up and lose control
I want to not hold back anymore; I'll go take a stroll and shiver


What do you get when you stay in your own lane?
Not much to talk about or relate
I'm sick of looking out my window pane
Expecting the world to just jump out onto my empty plate - I have to make my own fate

So can I now proceed?
Fuck this current self I present to reality - It's simply not the
Way that I want to be seen
I perceive myself brushing through all these trees
Though, not only in a dream

There'll be trouble in the pines
When I find myself in a bind
And I have no reason to go on not living alone
I'll run and no one will ever come across my bones

A little spoken word thing I've been working on, regarding trees and nature as a metaphor for human life.

The poem itself:

"Do trees wilt, or rot throughout the days?
When they fall, have they collapsed, or passed away?
Seems like every time one goes down, no one is around to hear its final wail
Are we just like trees, in this way?
Do we, too, wilt? Or rot throughout the days?

Birds - they live in trees, without having to give much in return
No rent, no rules - just don't destroy the being that gives them itself
A tree gives itself for all of the animals, who shelter throughout its bark, as it stands content in its breezy sway -
For what?
Here we are, worrying about how much life we need to give to one another
Why can't we just be the best trees for our birds?


Trees breathe out our breath, as we breathe in theirs
No communication is needed to perform this business - yet the exchange is everlasting
It is ever present, and so, so simple
No debts involved as well - just resources for life; plenty of life
And here we are, annoyed we are not yet paid
For the service and business we conduct to our debtors.


Trees must wilt away! They're too innocent to rot throughout the days
They give themselves for an honorable death
Going throughout each day without a care for how to stay happy
But as we go throughout each day, we falter more
We tend to rot, slowly on
Rot throughout the days."
