I sang “Colours” last night as a small tribute, with just my voice over acoustic guitar and a soft organ humming underneath. As I reached the first verse, the simple melody felt very close, and the organ filled in just enough warmth without overpowering the guitar. The mix of guitar and organ gave the song a slightly different texture than the classic folk version, but I felt it still honored Donovan’s spirit.

When I sang the lines about yellow, blue, green, and freedom, I could feel the emotional weight in the quiet moments — the organ would swell just enough to support, then pull back to let the acoustic strings lead.
