I always found it amazing how influential he was to women, for many he was singular and he was. Many of my childhood musician greats died in the last 15 years. Now their legends grow bigger again. Didn't know this one but you make it great.

June is the month that marks three years since we lost Prince. I haven’t been shy about the influence Prince has had on me (you can read a short essay I wrote after his death here : https://kimbramusic.tumblr.com/post/143251121609/reflections-on-prince-the-beautiful-one ) and I wanted to pay tribute to that in some way. 

Before Prince passed I had been working on a cover on his lesser-known acoustic song titled ‘Dionne’. It originally appeared on the fourth disc of the Crystal Ball collection. The fourth disc was titled 'The Truth', the twenty-first studio album by Prince with 12 new acoustic songs.

Prince is just as monumental when he strips down to acoustic guitar with some minimal oddball production... the song 'Dionne' always stood out to me in so many ways and it had become a favorite of mine. 

I had begun to put together a very lo fi version of the song at my home studio, I didn’t necessarily intend to release it (it’s a little intimidating to ever attempt a Prince cover knowing you can never come close to the original) but recently I started to work on it again and decided today would be a perfect day to share it with you all. 

 I’ve deliberately kept it very rough around the edges to retain the initial spirit of minimalism and playfulness that Prince created the song with. 
I produced, recorded and mixed this at home in my studio.
Thankyou to Timon Martin for adding extra guitars, to Chris Tabron for encouraging me to finish this and release it, and finally thank you to Prince. I hope you enjoy it x
