This is an excerpt from Joey Ayala’s talk in a TEDxDiliman forum last October 13, 2013. Ayala, a veteran Filipino singer-songwriter, observed that there are mispronunciations in the Philippine National Anthem, the “Lupang Hinirang”.

In this version, Ayala altered the tempo and transposed it, into what he described, as a “swaying” kind of melody. Such was derived from the usual feel of Filipino Folk love songs or the “Kundiman”. The adjusted tempo likewise made the lyrics clear and easy to pronounce. He expressed that the “swaying” feel would further reflect the "non-confrontational and soft" trait of the Filipino People.

He noted that the phrase "ang magmahal nang dahil sa'yo" (to love for the country) would serve as a better ending for the anthem rather than “ang mamatay ng dahil sayo” (to die for the country), which he thinks, delivers a  grave and dark feel to the song. 

I hope I will not go to jail for this hahaha.
