Brazilian talent Classmatic is next up on Hot Creations with the two-track Toma Dale EP. Having already set dancefloors alight at the hands of label heads Jamie Jones and Lee Foss, the eagerly anticipated release drops this April. 

Classmatic explained how the release came together: “Everything started when I decided I needed a track to put in my sets with congas in. I live in Brazil and wanted something to represent the Latin sound as I didn’t have any tracks that incorporated this, so that's when Toma Dale ft Nfasis was born. Bape was literally inspired by some of the tracks Jamie Jones has been playing in his sets in recent years. I wanted to create a killer groove with acid influences and also produce a slightly different breakdown to what would be expected.” 

Toma Dale ft Nfasis achieves exactly what Classmatic set out to do. The track opens proceedings with enticing congas that instantly transport you to Latin America. Punchy drum pads pounce in and combine with the percussion to create a highly energetic base, as finely cut Spanish vocals are embedded to fuse everything together. Bape pays homage to the Hot Creations sound. Warm, soft, bouncy kick drums lead the track, joined by subtle acid sounds that tantalise the ears. The breakdown is perfectly placed with the addition of mesmerising vocals that fade in and out before the punchy, bass-heavy drums are hauled back in. 

Classmatic has built up a lot of traction over recent years, catching the eyes and ears of major heavyweights in the field, releasing under such labels as Solid Grooves and Hottrax and in 2021 he remixed Cloonees’ major hit, When The Sun Goes Down. Receiving support from artists such as Seth Troxler, Michael Bibi, Pete Tong and Loco Dice to name a few, it comes as no surprise when we say there is a bright future ahead for the talented artist.

Ben Sterling and Bodeler combine as both make their Solid Grooves debut for 'Uno Dos Tres'.

With their Ibiza residency at DC10 Ibiza proving to be one of the stand-out series of the summer, it's safe to say Solid Grooves are making 2022 a year to remember as they also celebrate 10 years with a wealth of huge shows across the globe. Showing no signs of slowing when it comes to dropping impactful records across both labels, late-September welcomes the arrival of a big debut collaboration between UK talent Ben Sterling and Argentinian Bodeler as the pair combine for their first appearance on Solid Grooves with 'Uno Dos Tres'.

Fusing rolling organic percussion with playful vocal samples, snaking basslines and crisp hi-hats, 'Uno Dos Tres' delivers an impactful stripped back cut from the duo as they unveil a production perfect for the main room and the afters.

Making their debut on elrow music, this modern tech-house release features two original mixes and a remarkable remix by Iglesias. YOUniverse make their return to Solid Grooves with new single 'Voices' on sister imprint Solid Grooves Raw.

Based in Turin, Italian pairing YOUniverse have been busy over the past 18 months, dropping heat via a string of impressive labels while also launching their own, Shout!, releasing music from the likes of Eddy M, Detlef, Santé and more. Returning to Solid Grooves following the release of their single 'Feels Right' in 2022 and unveiling their first standalone release of the year, the duo step out on sister imprint Solid Grooves Raw for the first time as they open May with the release of their latest cut, 'Voices'.

Building from warping, glitchy synths and touch kicks, 'Voices' slinks its way through skippy grooves and female vocal shots to deliver a rumbling and driving production crafted for the floor.

Late in 2023, my team and I came up with the idea of choosing my 30 most meaningful records and put them out every day for a month. & I was SO hesitant at first. I think as a 20 year old who’s trying to make space for himself in the scene, the natural path that has proven to work is to make beats, put them out once every couple of months on labels, and hope you’ll get booked based off of that. But years ago, l’d look at what the artists I admire so much were doing and thought, ‘they aren’t following any formulas or any trends but making their own. I want to do that’. Doing things your way has never been out of fashion. So ultimately thought, fuck it, let’s do it.

We could have chosen the no brainers, but I couldn’t help wondering if that’s how I wanted to be remembered years from now. In ten or twenty years, who knows If I’ll have the chance to do music. I might be dead, and all these stories and anecdotes that construct who I am are worth sharing with others now. 

This project is what I want to look back at and remember what it was like being 15 and feeling excited about a music world full of possibilities. What it was like being 17 and discovering a new genre that I wanted to be a part of. What it was like at 18 saying goodbye to my family. What it was like being 20 and realising that life sort of starts to get real. It’s what I want another 15 year old to listen to and think, ‘hey, If he thinks that what’s in his mind is good enough to share, maybe what’s in mind is too, so I’ll give it a try too’.
