The Belgian label Atmosphere Records is back with a massive vinyl/EP for the end of the summer. René Bourgeois takes you on a tour into his Paradise with remixes by Berlin most wanted: Sascha Braemer (Stil Vor Talent, Dantze), Nico Stojan (Katermukke) and Dan Caster (Light My Fire).

The original mix of Soul Paradise has that magical minimal touch that only René Bourgeois can deliver. A typical mesmerizing piano roll and a soulful piece of melancholia, that is René Bourgeois at his best. As the name suggests the Deep Sunrise Remix of Sascha Braemer gives us, while playing with the vocals, the best of a summer morning. After hour specialist Nico Stojan cuts the vocals and gives the piano a robotic touch, resulting in an ultimate deep house remix. Last but not least frequent Atmosphere remixer Dan Caster surprises us with a funky indie, new-disco interpretation.

Cornish acid dance pioneer, Luke Vibert, dusts off the old gladrags and revives his cherished Kerrier District moniker for a new album this year on Hypercolour.

Having already released an album last year (the audacious 303 tweakathon ‘Ridmik’, released under the Luke Vibert name), Vibert returns to the label with a 14 track album as Kerrier District.  “4” will be the first Kerrier album since 2004’s self titled long player for the legendary Rephlex label.  Two singles also emerged from this project in 2006 and 2011, so it’s a huge scoop for the British imprint and a welcome return for Vibert’s disco and funk led project.

Digging into a huge pot of influence, and ably assisted with a trusty MPC, “4” is not surprisingly made up of a glorious collage of samples, old skool drum loops and large doses of acid funk and deep electronic disco, inspired in parts by the landmark “Black Devil Disco Club” EP from 1978 that has since gone on to influence the music of many like minded producers (step forward Metro Area/Daniel Wang et al).

A scan through the track titles (“Treacle Tits”?  “Discuntek”?) reveal an album filled with humour and mischievous intent, most definitely a trait of many of Vibert’s past releases, but the music really is some serious business.  From the album opener, “Discogram”, with its easy (listening) vibes and low slung groove, right the way through to the closing “Come On Kerrier” with its frenzied synth work, deadly bass and incessant vocal stabs, the album is a Technicolor romp through feel good modern funk music as only Kerrier knows how.  Drawing upon a wealth of incredible source material, playful beat programming and lush bass, “4” is an album that will quite possibly soundtrack the Summer of 2015 for many, many people.

With a big bubbly trumpety organ lead riff set to space age FX, we're transported into a space of timelessness yet full of sonic depth and distance. Guaranteed to grace any floor it's played to with a feeling of warmth and unity.
Wolfgang Thums is up first on remix duties, and takes us on a journey that speaks of his own travels too. Dispensing with the trumpeting organ yet somehow reminding us of it in the composition he presents. Combing the original FX against a driving bassline with glitched up percussion and a more upbeat feel, this takes us on a trip that won't be forgotten easily.
Stas Drive give us his movement returning us to the original organ synth yet provides his own groove, traveling deeper and deeper as the track progresses into a sonic landscape filled with emotive synth pads and FX and back to reality with the familiar groove we started from.
Trockensaft completes the remixes with a passage into a more deep and warm and homely feeling. What begins as a seemingly simple jaunt, soon turn into a more meaningful and contemplate mood, reflecting the end of the night and progression into the morning time. Hints of the organ synth remind us of the origin of the track and the journey we have come through to compete it in such a beautiful way.

Vanishing Point’s debut was on No Definition and we’re super excited to be releasing this talented Spanish producer on Sleazy Deep enlisting two amazing producers for the remixes both bringing something fresh to the release. 

Like The Summer brings a fresh house vibe over nu disco qualities and summery, sexy vocals. The warm bass just bumps along while the fluttering arps build us up with hot pads & percussion bringing more summery flare. Here you go. This is a track that came out on Connaisseur Superieur in August. I made it earlier this year and it's probably one of my most ambitious tracks but also the one which took longest to finish. But that's mainly down to me being a COMPLETE dumbass, as Alex and Martin from Connaisseur can confirm. Anyways, have a listen and any comments good or constructively bad are welcome. Big shout out also to Max for the fantastic artwork which perfectly captured the vibe of the track (and title).
