As part if this year's edition of Intonal Festival, we have joined forces with Malmö based Retreat Radio in presenting sets from a myriad of artists from near and far.

Felisha Ledesma, the sound artist and musician explores an emergent lowercase sound,  shimmering with elusive timbres that occupy a unique space – neither electronic nor acoustic, but more a sort of observational sound that radiates tenderness and warmth. 
Processed field recordings sit alongside more traditional instruments utilized in creative ways, as Ledesma expertly moulds microscopic sounds into impenetrable yet intimate sonic worlds. It’s detailed, absorbing music – longform yet somehow also instantly immersive and inviting.

Lithuanian musician and sound artist Marija Rasa, aka emer, is a master of texture and tone. In her recent album 'sea salt', she creates a mesmerizing palette of rustles, clicks and clangs, that spiral in freefall. Layered vocals are fragmented and compressed into the most minute of spaces, transmitted directly to the ear as whispered messages.

Her somewhere mix takes a cinematic, expansive approach to composition, with Janet Cardiff's potent narration exerted as a guiding tether. Marija expertly weaves through layers of abstracted ambient and dismantled techno, concocting an undulating pace that stretches moments infinitely, resulting in deep, resonating echoes. As the parts come together, fortuitous sounds create a spine-tingling euphoria, glistening in their warm and blissful transience.

Electric pulses as a result of merging the delicate and the strident. Beautiful mix comprising mostly unreleased material from Soma (@sssooommmaaa). 

'This mix contains original music that I produced between 2019 and 2022. During this period, significant events unfolded in my life: we were locked down by the pandemic, I got married, and we moved to Berlin for a year. Musically, I began exploring modular synthesizers during this time, so some tracks feature my initial forays into using Eurorack modules. Overall, my music combines the still energy of ambient and drone with rhythmically intertwined abstract sounds'.
