Kinematic's special for 2021 is an out-take from our album Kinecism. We left it off that record but years later we had another listen.  It sounded alright to us and we couldn't remember why we left it off so, what the hell, here it is!

Kinematic's 2009 inaugural special is an out-take from our debut album Time & Place.  We were mucking about and our engineer Kev hit record.  It's ridiculous but we're glad he did!

Nar Nar Goon (Lost In Time Mix 2009)

Kinematic's special for 2017 was written back in 1996 by a previous band of ours, the punk/funk trio Snorkel. The Kinematic version is remarkably different to the original, which didn't feature saxophone, banjo or ukulele. Lyrically it could be about standing up to bullies, learning to surf or overcoming stage-fright, we can't really tell.

Step On (Inhaling Water Mix 2017)

Track 3 from the 3rd Kinematic album "Kites" (also released on a limited edition double A-side 7" vinyl single, "The High Singles") was inspired by that fantastic moment when you walk out of work on a Friday evening.

Track 1 from the 1st Kinematic album "Time & Place" was inspired by the priest Tripitaka's pilgrimage in the stone monkey legend.

Track 2 from the 2nd Kinematic album "The 38th Parallel" was inspired by being lost in a crowd while suffering paranoid delusions, good clean fun all 'round.

Track 6 from the 1st Kinematic album "Time & Place" was inspired by the novel "High Fidelity".

Kinematic's special for 2018 has been kicking around the sound vault for years.  Lonely, half-forgotten, a bit dusty, the poor thing.  We finally did the right thing and gave it some love: bass, drums and all the trimmings.  Just in time for the freezing time of year ... unless you live in Melbourne like we do. Let's just say we're being ironic.

Big Freeze (Bah Humbug Mix 2018)

Kinematic's special for 2019 is a reimagining of a song from our very first album Time & Place.  It's a song about losing your girlfriend in the supermarket that now sounds like that supermarket is the last one on a post-apocalytic Earth.  What's not to love?

Kinematic's 2012 Christmas special is a remix of a song that appears on the album Kites.

Already Here (Gecko Mix 2012)

Kinematic's special for 2020 was about all the cool stuff we were supposed to have by then, but didn't.  Plus the whole year was an epic fail so there's that too.

2020 Epic Fail (Explicit Hoverboards Mix 2020)

Kinematic (pron. Kin-ee-mat-ick) - not the branch of dynamics related to motion, but an indie pop/rock band from Melbourne, Australia. Although, if you're looking for a genre to file us under, maybe it should be 'Unpop'.

We're unsigned and independent and we've have been making music for a while now.  We've created a mix of sonic snacks, ranging from thoughtful folk music to distortion laced rock, with a whole bunch of pop songs that fall somewhere in between.

Feel free to download the tunes - much of it is free on the Kinematic try-before-you-buy scheme.  The albums Time & Place (2005), The 38th Parallel (2007) and Kites (2009) are great places to start.
