Of Mics and Men - Lyrics (Kinetic Effect, 1995)

The story is now of mics and men, men and mice
   enticed by tenuous links to felonious finks.
The chink of steel reels you back.  I cut and hack.
   Blades crack from a slap when Kinetic attacks.
Like a cat, I prowl my prey.
   Lick my teeth, sight the mice and slice, 'cos I slay today.
Use the claws in paws or a clause in contracts
   to contract the back 'til they collapse and snap.
Rap is riddled with reprobates.
   Those who claim they've a name but are slain and left as bait
for sharks who swim in sin and feed on greed.
   I'm Carcharodon Carcharias.  The name makes you bleed.
Take heed to the physicist.
   Phenomenal forces of nature take you to build my list
of Strong, Weak,  Gravity, ...Electrostatics:
   All are mine, combined in a world of panic.
Cool, calm and collected, 
   They're killed, embalmed and ejected.  Kinetic Effect dissected
the sad, the sorrowful, the pathetic: dead!
   Primed with the sign of the Scarecrow, stuck in their head.
I fed an experiment with venomous reams of rhymes.
   The men awoke; The mice, they choked and died.
Abide the best and rest the remainder.
   Digest complex text and vex explainers.
Lay in a line.  Stay still as I kill you off.
   You're layered with lime, as you pay, you decay and cough.
As poison permeates, toxins attack your track.
   The raps relapse...   Remix, re-hack, retract.
Squeak when I squash you.
   Three blind'll find their tale's cut short...  I garrote you.
And what you felt was the melt of the mind.
   The rodents eradicated.  Only men are left behind!

My first release under the name of "Kinetic Effect" (and last with my prior crew "2 The Top"), this 1993 release was also the first from legendary UK producer Insane MacBeth (@insanemacbethofficial).

Hmmm, how shall I put it?...You suck!
I stuck you ducks and stuffed the crux of your argument.
Who meant you?  Who said you could do 2?
Your musical motto is "mmm, what will suit who?"
But I warn you, the Kinetic mentality
Procures the cure:  to Border Insanity.
The man behind this: two gold teeth and
A Bally Flush touch in a mind state such that
We have much at the mind that matters more.
DJ Insane makes the track with the rapper raw.
So you claw for your so-called come-back.
From what???   Your pop rap fun pack.
Its a fact that you weren't here before that.
A lyrical void.  You get me annoyed.  Your format's wack.
The bad young brother's a buffoon.
I pruned your props that you lost to this rough tune.
So chew on that.  You know I'd have sooner sat
On top of the beat `cos the insane looped the track.
TDK let loose to control the decks.
Reached the border, so feel the Kinetic Effect.
As I wreck, check the high go to low notes.
You promote hopes? ..You're still out to cut throats.
Nope!! Not me.  My head slipped the guillotine.
We're not gullible.  You run as I stun `em all.
And I shun `em all.  Take Insane as my witness.
I'm slipping your disk as I hit this
Hard, fast, relativistically blast past.
Nastily, `cos what you did was your last task.
So last this;- you're exactly the same as the lame brains
Who use rap acts for their game playings.
See the game change, as brains attain fame.
You rap with your foot in your mouth...in the same vein of... 
Def? No...multiply it by two: still is nil
Nish.  You tested Insane but were dismissed.
My wrist flexed as I vexed you with dialect.
Your manager lies so I reply with my effect
Intact.  In fact you cut your own throat.
I heard an echo but you're rocking your own boat.

But you ain't burning this.
I dismiss with a crisp diss, then shift.
A cuss for a cuss but,  it's you who got miffed siss.

Dissed to death. You aimed but I guess you missed.

Kinetic ain't part of the happy faction.
Act your age, retract your page
zip your lip Brit hypocrite,  but don't let the stylus slip.
From 33 to 45 coming alive
About as much as a morgue as your flaws arrive.
Take a dive as you duck, but not enough.
Your racial inadequacies have called your bluff.
Ruff!  I reach, you say you teach.
But I ain't hip to your hypocritical speech.
Dumb plum, in fact you're all manner of fruit.
You make ballads, while I make fruit salads.
Squash your pip!  So you take the science tip.
But Kinetic's on a physics degree grip!
So grip hold of the mic that you sold cheap.
You say "so?" but what you sew you reap. 
...and I progress.
The verse of the first said lyrically don't test.
Satirically grotesque and estimated insane
Invalidly, by fake personalities.
You get panicky.  Who will he get next?
As I run down clowns who claim they're complex.
Get Kinetic vexed, I retaliate.
...Set bait. And sit and wait.
I see you chewing on a stolen simile.
Its embarrassing to see your comparisons of
Rap, house, and eviction I heard before
In a score from which you copied your diction
Badly!  I didn't hear you in the symphony.
A cello and bow.  A smooth value of zero.
Your flow is a no no, cos no you don't
Dispense sense, sensibly.  Now who you intend to be?
Kinetic E,  TDK, or maybe Insane.
You play rent-a-rap,  and ban I'm paying.
And ban he's playing any of the tracks that you or
I do, unless we suck clean up to his crew.
But he knew that when we run up another 12
Or EP or LP, the 2's too stealthy.
So just shell the thoughts that you claw to.
Cos Insane and the 2's letting loose on the border.

Borderin' Insanity

The B-Side to my first release "Borderin' Insanity" in 1993, "Beyond the Parameters of Amateurs" was a follow up to some of the reaction we gained after the release of "Borderin'".  This all out battle track was intended to challenge some of our contemporaries at the time to step up their game :-).  Produced by the legendary UK producer Insane MacBeth (@insanemacbethofficial).

This 1997 release was my first creation to focus on concept and narrative in addition to pure technical lyrical skills.  Insane MacBeth (@insanemacbethofficial) and I worked tirelessly on the production to match the concept in this new direction. 

The original track description sheet that went out with the original release below:

‘Man Bites Dog’ parallels the cult Cannes Film Festival winner of the same name.  As in the movie, Kinetic Effect’s track follows the life of a serial killer seemingly devoid of moral standpoint or knowledge of place in society.  Kinetic extrapolates this complex character to exist in a musical environment, molding the lead character as an embittered musician, twisted by the forces of commerce and politics in the music industry.  The listener of the track plays the part of an impartial viewer, documenting this character’s life.  The fate of the listener, however, ends with a twist not found in the movie…

Track description that went out with release below:

‘The Effect of Fear’ was originally intended to follow Kinetic Effect’s B-Side track ‘Beyond the Parameters of Amateurs’ on his previous release.  However, as the lyrics developed, so did the track’s concept.  ‘The Effect of Fear’ describes the emotion of fear embodied as a physical entity.  All facets of this emotion are explored.  Kinetic describes how the conscious battles with the subconscious to defeat fear, and how fear can manifest itself in new and hidden ways to possess its owner.  One of the more interesting concepts Kinetic explores is how each and every one of us create the fears that, if uncontested, can overtake and control our lives.

This remix came out as a very limited release in 2000 on Insane MacBeth's "Retardation Project" album.  Not many people have yet heard it.  I decided to try something a little different with this remix of the original 1997 "Effect of Fear":... although I used the original lyrics unchanged, I revocalled, changing up the patterns and delivery entirely to give a completely different feel.  Even Insane was confused in the studio as to how the lyrics would fit with the music until he heard the vocals mixed with with the lyrics (after which the familiar 2-gold-teeth grin of approval followed)

Recorded in 1995, "The Catalyst" was part of the never to be released EP "The Mortis Experiments".  It's a pure battle rap targeted towards another emcee we had musical beef back and forth with back in the day (since squashed). I took a mix of blatant, covert and scientific lyrical dimensions to match Insane and my own approaches in handling battle/conflict.
