Coming from Johannesburg, South Africa this DJ has been mixing for 3 years. It all started when fellow VRChat DJ CatDog sent a clip from one of his sets to this DJ. This in turn convinced them to buy a controller. Since those early days they've played Danceable Chin Scratchers at places like Concrete, Loner, Mutable, Unlocked, and the Magfest Portal event organized by DJ/VJ Silent back in 2024.

For today, though, they've brought us a set inspired by their Friend May. 

Outside of DJing they've been playing 2D platforms recently - Silksong is their favorite game of all time and they said that the modded celeste community is one of the few communities they've seen that could rival the creative energy and passion that they see in members of the VRChat Club Scene. 

Lastly, while they didn't have any specific event to promo they wanted to encourage everyone to remind your loved ones that you love them.

BIO:
Based in Florida, this DJ and Producer has been mixing for about 2 years. They told me that their most substantial inspiration is the amount of underground music & avant-garde producers that people seldom hear about. What keeps them coming back, though, is being allowed to introduce these tracks and creative concepts that they personally find irreplaceable to others who will maybe sift through the setlist because something resonated with them enough to seek out the creator & listen to more of their work. 

They've performed at a handful of events local to their area and have found them to all be immensely enjoyable. And since finding the VR scene they've played at places that they told me that they're eternally grateful to for allowing them to stretch their legs creatively, whether it was 2 years ago or last week. The type of tracks you'll be hearing at most of their sets come from genres like hyperpop, hyperflip, deconstructed club, baile funk, plastic pop, and jersey club. 

They said that inspiration rarely presents itself in a sensible way - so for today, they brought you a set that starts with an eclectic/anticipatory intro inspired by their cat. Aside from themselves, she's heard them play more music than anyone else & sits next to them during every set. She's a quiet, mysterious creature & she enjoys the digital synth sounds the most. You'll be hearing tracks like the current one, Broken Friendship Bracelet, and Pretty Mixx, which are the opening and closing tracks, respectively. To this DJ, these tracks are both incredible feats of production and massively genre-defining in their own right. A simple beginning & a complex ending - which is the essence of this set & their own interests.

Outside of DJing, they enjoy writing, painting, pottery, & street photography. And outside of electronic music, they've been obsessed with "Ode to Rahsaan" by Berloiz - a jazz fusion track that properly pays homage to the roots of jazz as black classical music. 

While they don't have anything specific to promote, they asked that you engage with your local communities wherever you can, & to be kind and patient to yourself & others.

Keeplove? - It's Easy ft Clark Smith, WillDaBeast, Leah Concialdi, Matt Van Den Heuvel [PREMIERE]

Bossa a la Calle is the opening theme. In a playful nod to Brazilian bossa nova, psychedelic synths blend in a melancholic and engaging tempo. 

Minguante is the Brazilian Portuguese for the “waning moon” - the most introspective and reserved phase of the moon. Inspired by the mysterious attraction of the this moment, Brazilian producer Kurup´s latest EP invites us into his world with four fairytale tracks, rich in sculpted electronic sound, exquisitely chosen percussion and flourishes of the musical traditions of his Brazilian background.

Born in Cerrado, the vast tropical savannah of Brazil´s Goiás state, Renato Rocha, AKA Kurup describes his music as ´selva elettrica´ (Electric Forest) and listening to Minguante, it is as if his deep, electronic productions were filtered through the natural world - plants, insects, the dry wind, the moon. This EP was produced especially for Shika Shika and features remix from fellow Brazilian Pigmalião and Shika Shika founders History of Colour AKA El Búho & Barrio Lindo.

Kurup is currently a resident DJ in Sonido Trópico and part of Frente Bolivarista, Tropical Twista and Shika Shika family.
