Defected Radio Mix-Kenny Dope

For Roger Martinez music is a way to reach people in a non-verbal and more direct way. Connecting to people using sonic vibrations to me is mystical and profound.

His broad interest in sound has forced him to do several projects at a time. Roger Martinez is his Electronic Dance Music project. Under his "Horizontal Excursions" guise he explores vast Ambient worlds of sonic emotions. Going full circle in the audio realm, he also occasionally designs sound installations and take part in interdisciplinary art projects.

We recorded this set live at Loveland during Amsterdam Dance Event 2014

It’s been a very quick journey rising through the ranks for Sieg Motmans AKA Siege. Born and bred in Belgium, it was from a very early age that Siege’s eyes opened to the world of Dance. As every young Dance music fan does he gathered his life savings and invested in a set of turntables. The rest, as they say, is history.
Siege is now back busy in the studio working on new music which resulted in a release on the mighty Ultra Music and remixes for Atlantic Records and ONELOVE. Siege has a lot more to come in 2015 so watch this space!

Dj Mix #362 - Siege

A world class globe-trotting DJ, a recording artist, a sought-after remix producer, and head of his own record label (Younan Music ), Saeed Younan has excelled as a true artist in the global dance scene. Without showing complacency, Saeed Younan does not cease to amaze, always looking to astound.
Born in Iraq but living in Washington DC since the early 80's, Younan grew up listening to a variety of ethnic music. As a result, his musical sound resonates with percolating beats and sonic grooves. His production have been dubbed “timeless” by top DJs and even referred to as a “change of heart for dance music.” His vision is clear, yet simply stated: “I just want people to enjoy my music as much as I enjoy playing it for them.”

With support by Carl Cox, who invited Federico to play alongside him on Ibiza or DJ Mag who did a review of him, this 10-years-old has made quite an impact already.

Supernova are Emiliano Nencioni and Giacomo Godi; an Italian DJ and production duo that have over the last decade made the transition from rising stars to established international talent, perhaps best known for their acclaimed and much-discussed collaboration with Kevin Saunderson on 2010’s ‘Beat Me Back’. They achieved their first notable success in 2007 when Sony BMG released their debut album ‘Downtown Underground, which included collaborations from the likes of GrandMaster and Melle Mel). 

Known for their distinctive DJ style their current set-up comprises live instruments, decks and Ableton to create an ever-evolving musical experience. Supernova have played at some of the most established venues and festivals on the planet, including  ElRow (Barcelona), Monegros Desert Festival, Space (Ibiza), Ministry Of Sound (London), Cavo Paradiso (Mykonos), Kazantip Festival (Ukraine), Cielo ( NYC), Tenax and Magazzini Generali (Italy), Space (Miami) and many many more.

House giant Defected Records has released a number of the duo’s productions including remixes of seminal records ‘Can You Feel It’ and ‘Strings of Life’ as well as the more recent Cassandra and The Light Goes On EPs. Other notable releases outside of the Defected stable include acclaimed remixes for Kerri Chandler on Bar A Thym and Hallelujah for King Street Sounds as well as their top-charted remix on Jakatta’s American Dream and highly respected Electronic Love EP on their own Lapsus Music.

If there was ever a time to really showcase our roster, it’s now. One year on from #RESET, Toolroom’s new squad is leading the way in all things house, tech house and techno. To kick start October, we wanted to experiment with our artist roster and do something a little different. We are proud to introduce 'T1'. 

The first in a new album series, T1 is all about new and unexpected combinations of Toolroom's leading artists.  Featuring 7 unique, never been done before collaborations, this album is a way for us to really celebrate our artists' talents and to challenge them with new creative partnerships.  
 
First up - Mark Knight vs Prok & Fitch. ‘Into My Life’ is everything you’d expect and want from this stellar collaboration - A big room club banger which will be lighting up many a party to come.

Next up we have the instrumental version of the tune of the Summer from Technasia & Green Velvet, Suga. Available exclusively via this compilation, this is an essential tool that Joris Voorn has been hammering for the past 6 Months.

We then move over to Toolroom’s very own Weiss and label favourite Harry Romero. This collaboration showcases another side of the Toolroom sound - straight up House music, and ‘Let Me Show Ya’ is all about chunky, heavy beats and infectious basslines that has already seen Pete Tong provide early Radio One support. 

Next up, it’s Adrian Hour and Eelke Kleijn. A collaboration which is both alluring and melodic,  ‘Take Control’ is the perfect Techno injection for T1 – The result is so good, it’s hard to believe that this is the first time the guys have worked together, but we’re sure it wont be the last.

Heading over to the underground floors we have Secondcity and Kydus with ‘The Light’. A track which is designed for the early hours from 2 of the UK’s brightest up and coming stars, this heads-down roller is one for the darker floors and delves into territory of sub label Toolroom Trax.

Rene Amesz has had a standout year with singles ‘Like It Deep’ and ‘Big’ dominating the Beatport charts. This collab see’s him join forces with fellow tech house stalwart Mendo and ‘Tribeca’ is the perfect example of two outstanding producers coming together to create something really special.

Finally, upcoming talents Jamie K and Thee Cool Cats have collaborated on ‘One Time’. Another infectious track to add to the Toolroom vaults that features a groovy vocal stab and crisp pianos, this track ties T1 together and rounds off the first in an exciting new series for Toolroom.
