When the year (2024) started I had no plans of releasing an album whatsoever. Somewhere along the line I felt a strong leading to do so. I wondered how this was even going to be possible since I hadn't written any song in a long time. It was as if the Holy Spirit said, "Watch me." Songs just kept pouring out.

Fast forward here we are with what would be my first official album ever since I chose to lay down my own ideas to pursue my God-given assignment. 14 songs, a Piano and a man who has dropped everything to follow his King!
.
Some of these songs were given in dreams. Some from years and years ago, some from the place of worship and inspiration. And these are indeed journals of my Christian walk so far.
.
This is as real as songwriting and music ministry gets for me. Great things He has done and greater things He will do. I pray you'll be blessed on the 26th and beyond as this album goes worldwide. Lord JESUS be MAGNIFIED on this album.

Strut proudly presents the first full career retrospective release for Ghanaian highlife master and “The Golden Voice Of Africa,” Pat Thomas, covering his late ‘60s big band highlife recordings through to the “burger highlife” movement of the early ‘80s. 

Thomas received his first big break when a new version of Broadway Dance Band was created in 1967, lead by Ebo Taylor. The partnership with Taylor would become one of the enduring forces in Ghanaian music during the ‘70s, creating a fresh, progressive new highlife sound.

Ghana's Kyekyeku carries torch for near-forgotten Palmwine music

'While many of the younger generation of Ghanaian musicians have turned to pop or rap, the young, talented singer-songwriter and guitarist Kyekyeku is flying the flag for an older accoustic folk genre known as Palmwine music.
Born in the early part of the twentieth century, Palmwine music was popular in both Ghana and Sierre Leone where S.E. Rogie and Koo Nimo brought it to wide audiences. Kyekyeku cut his teeth with Koo Nimo and has gone on to incorporate it into his own folk, Highlife and Afrobeat-inspired universe.
Following the release of his album Higher life on Palm Wine Kyekyeku talks to RFI about why he's drawn to the genre and why African musicians' main market has to be the African continent itself. "If we want to solve problems in Africa we have to sing to people in Africa," says the musician whose energetic enthusiasm for change will surely end up bearing fruit.
