Cult Berlin mix engineer, live act and producer Hannes Bieger returns to Poker Flat Recordings for the first time since his 2019 smash 'Chemistry'. Bieger matches his studio mastery with an innate sense of what the dancefloor needs, and has made significant impact in the scene with releases on the likes of Bedrock and Awesome Soundwave. Here, he brings two stunning new tracks to the surface via The Heart EP.

The title track features the unmistakable vocals of Ursula Rucker - the poet, activist and vocalist from Philadelphia who had graced some truly classic records over the past 2 decades. Bieger provides a slinky, deceptive groove for Rucker to deliver her iconic vocals.

'Santorin' is an even deeper cut, showcasing Bieger’s deft production via an infectious groove, rolling bass and beautifully restrained modular flourishes.

Poker Flat Recordings keeps up its prodigious release schedule with another superb EP - this time by scene statesmen Gorge and Markus Homm. Gorge (aka Pit Waldmann) is the co-owner of 8bit Records, originally from Mannheim and has carved a singular niche for himself over the past 20-odd years. Similarly. Markus Homm has been deeply influential in developing the scene in his native Romania, and is now working alongside the Poker Flat regular Mihai Popoviciu.

With this EP Gorge and Markus Homm have merged their many talents and honed two tracks of depth and weight. 'Holos' is a tightly wound slice of superior tech house, textured and layered with lush chords and a thick lower end.

'Glint' also showcases the duo's mutual understanding of the dynamics of the dance floor - a slick groove is enhanced and expanded via subtle and effective melodic elements, including a pinch of acidic 303 sounds.

Italian DJ and producer Francis De Simone debuts on Lee Foss and Jamie Jones' label Hot Creations with London Bass. Having built a solid back catalogue in recent years, his first Hot Creations release embodies the dynamic sound of the Palermo-born artist, channelling chunky tech house and disco-flavoured melodies. 

De Simone explains his creative thinking behind the EP. "These tracks fully express my devotion to music. I ranged a lot, trying to remember an 80's sound up to a more raw and synthetic groove with Latin vocals to embrace the different ethnic groups." Reflecting his thoughts to a tee, the title track rumbles with a massive bassline and chopped-up vocals that add an instant burst of energy. Things get weird on Saludos A Todos, as thumping kickdrums collide with a trippy melody and even trippier vocals, creating a wavey atmosphere. The ideal club curveball. On Off White, De Simone delivers a pacey number packed with burbling beats and clicky percussion, complemented by dreamy vocals. The hint is in the name on closing track, This Is Undergound. A big room delight, De Simone drops a stripped-back banger, where the lyrics do the talking in tandem with a driving bassline. An excellent addition to the Hot Creations discography. 

Based in Palermo, Italy, Francis De Simone stems from a family of musicians. Having played the drums from age two, the versatile artist can make anything from rock, pop and jazz, but these days, De Simone pens electronic music. His father worked as a bouncer for various local discos and exposed De Simone to dance music from a young age, later inspiring him to produce house and techno with an uplifting tint. 

Releases on Glasgow Underground, LW Recordings and REALM Records have helped shape the profile of this flourishing artist, with plenty more to come further down the line.

There must be something in the water in Luzern, the town that label regular Khainz calls home. The story of King Street Sounds starts at the Paradise Garage in New York City, the iconic nightclub that birthed the soulful house music movement. Once home to the late DJ Larry Levan, the Paradise Garage has had a major influence on the career choice and artistic style of house royalty such as David Morales, Louie Vega and Junior Vasquez, and was a keystone for the region's LGBT culture, particularly for Black and Latin American men. This spirit, along with the iconic music the Garage cultivated, inspired the foundation of King Street Sounds in 1993. 

Japanese founder Hisa Ishioka continues to spearhead the label’s output, maintaining King Street Sounds’ position at the forefront of dance culture. Predominantly focusing on its roots in house music whilst also pushing the sonic boundaries of the label to include Afro, Latin, jazz and tech-infused records, King Street Sounds has a global repertoire with a worldwide following. Household names such as Blaze, Barbara Tucker and Ultra Naté released exceedingly successful records such as ‘Most Precious Love’ and ‘Party Girl’ on the label, while house legends Kerri Chandler and Dennis Ferrer signed their seminal albums ‘Trionisphere’ and ‘The World As I See It’ to King Street Sounds. 

Fast forward to today, King Street Sounds continues to honor the legacy of the past thirty years, weaving its music into the modern ecosystem to educate and entertain new ears and existing fans. Through the continued work of label founder Hisa and a dedicated team of dance music experts, a new wave of talent pumps the beating heart of this legendary label.
