What a party!!! The Digitise team put the most wonderful nights together. So much love goes into the event and it brings such a beautiful crowd of people. Thank you for having me! It was an honour to open for such an awesome line-up...

When I heard The Freestylers were headlining the event, I couldn't contain my excitement. It was so good to see Aston Harvey playing a blinding set to a buzzing dance floor! He and the people he's collaborated with have been such a big part of my musical education ever since '98. What a legend!

Evil Twin! Wow! Mini Da Minx and Madame Electrifie are both awesome DJs in their own right. Put them together and something amazing happens. They vibe off each other in such a special way. It's a beautiful thing to behold and they absolutely rock the dancefloor!

Then there's Quack Tactics and Dom James, the Digitise residents. Not only do they put immense amounts of time into making their nights so good, they absolutely smash their sets every time. All in all, Digitise is one hell of a party!

Oh yeah... and here's my opening set! It was a great pleasure to get this party started! I remembered to press record part way through my first track. Better late than never! It was one of my best DJ experiences for sure - super fun times in genres tagged above, plus a dash of dancehall, a lick of leftfield bass and a tinge of trap. All the love to the party headz who hit the dancefloor in the second hour! It felt so great to share it with you!! xx

Nearly half the tracks in here were produced or remixed by Dj OnDaMiKe! I just couldn't help myself! 🤪 He's created so many bangin remixes of old skool dance floor classics recently and they went so well with the vibe on the floor in the moment on the night. There's a splash of bassline, bass house, UK bass and electro house to spice up the breaks in the mix too.

I had such a good time! 😍 FreQ Nasty was headlining! 🤩 I was so excited to be in the same line up but his sublime set!! It was sooo good!!! ❤️‍🔥 So much love to the Acme Bass Company for throwing such a great party, bringing a top crowd and inviting me to DJ! x

Togetherness

After a wonderful week at work with some really lovely people - instructing and hosting a winter skills course in Glencoe for Mountain Magic, a magical client called Mylene sent me a track called 'October' by Icarus. It inspired me to make a mix with it... 

Looking for another track in a harmonically compatible key, I noticed 'Mountain Top' by Danny Darko, featuring Alisha Jade. That's the track I thought of when you contacted your mum from the mountain top Mylene. There you were, on top of a huge life experience whilst your mum was wondering what all the fuss was about and showing you the epic sights of the living room back at home. The lyrics fit rather well…

"Now I'm standing on the mountain top, wondering how I got this far
You have no idea what this means"

The mix just had to start with 'Mountain Top' but it's much slower than 'October, so how to get from one to the other whilst moving in harmony and gradually increasing the tempo? 

The story goes like this…

Fun Lovin' Criminals join us on the mountain top with 'Come Find Yourself'. There's so much soul searching that goes on in mountain adventures and so many deep connections are formed in the process. It flows well from the deep lyrics in 'Mountain Top' too.

Then comes 'En Focus' by Quantic and Trinidad. Fittingly French and show-casing the focus we need in the mountains, in life and in the middle of the mix. Mylene, maybe you can help us out with the lyrics? Staying with the French theme, Gotan Project come in with their 'Last Tango in Paris'.

Then from Paris to the UK, Goldie brings light, depth, warmth and positivity with 'State of Mind'…

"I realize the state of mind where you have found me
I've turned the page and rearranged the cards that life has dealt me
I've played the game and felt the pain but I am stronger now
I feel warm rain runnin' down my face
I embrace all the love that lies around me
I feel no shame, nothing to erase
I wouldn't change a single day that lies before me"

Then Chicane go big on the beautiful with the 'Low Sun' that gives the magical rainbow colours in the snow crystals, and Nightmares On Wax brings the company with the lyric "I wanna be with you." Before, during and afterwards, mountains mean so much more when we can share them.

Sometimes, mountains can be exhausting or terrifying and I've noticed some old hard-times coming back to teach me something recently too. For when times are hard, Faithless soothe us with 'Everything Will Be Alright Tomorrow'…

It was inspiring to see you keep smiling when it hurt Mylene, and wonderful to see all of you being so kind and patient when Mylene couldn't keep up with your speedy pace.

8 tunes down the trail, we find ourselves keeping up with the warm and soulful sounds of 'October', flowing into the gorgeous piano and deep bass of 'Trailblazer' by Nora En Pure and dancing into the joyful piano, uplifting strings and playful percussion of 'Soulmatic' by Purple Disco Machine.

Staying with the deep house theme set by 'October', Ben Bohmer brings whoops and warm vibrations with 'After Earth', and EDX comes in with a sunrise remix from Ibiza. That one's for you James and Abby. I'm not sure about the name 'Roadkill' but the happy, bouncy beats more than make up for it.

Coming into land, Joey Negro needs no explanation with a bangin' remix of 'Straight From The Heart' by Loose Change, and we touch down gently with the beautiful piano and vocal of MuyÃ¨, by &ME, Rampa, Adam Port and Keinemusik.
