We might as well say it from the start: being content to just casually survey the sonic world of Kinski Elevator would be absolute nonsense. Serial clickers and fast forward fans: move along! We’re talking music here, with all its emotional power and ability to disorient. In these white washed times where the latest post-indie alter-punk neo-shaggy band can be made to look like the eighth wonder of the world, uncovering this kind of musical UFO is as delightful as it is unexpected. And that’s the beauty of it: you can’t wander into the universe of Kinski Elevator without a few risks. 
Inside that elevator, a trio awaits, determined. The founder of the project, guitarist Serge Rogalski could be considered the boss. But here there is no real leader, rather, the three players share equal commitment and responsibility as they take us on a brand new journey where the most powerful styles of rock from the past five decades coalesce. You see, even though jazz brought these three together, they’ve always harboured a burning passion for rock’n’roll, counting Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Them Crooked Vultures, Deerhoof and even Magma —with whom they share the keyboardist Bruno Ruder— among their biggest sources of inspiration. At the start of 2011, they recorded a side’s worth of music in the studio of drummer Pierre Luzy, the third member of this mischievous group. These sessions spawned the EP “Inner Crab Dogs” and the forthcoming album “They were […] In Love”, which will include new compositions and extended versions of the EP tracks.

Between arrhythmic discoveries, insidious melodies and unexpected references, Kinski Elevator elegantly creates a persuasive and breathtaking scenery, an escapist realm where stories of never-ending love blossom sumptuously, where surrealism follows the stream of lascivious thoughts, chasing away the dullness of habits with words that are alternatively icy-blue or crimson-red but never affected or overwrought. If you let yourself be led through these stories, you’ll find Kinski Elevator resembles a sort of labyrinth/film where the spirit of David Lynch lurks, where Can and Zappa meet Tortoise and Happy Apple. Not since Ulan Bator and Prohibition have ears heard such beautiful implacability.
