He used to be the head booker for Nachtdigital, an intimate gathering of like-minded souls in the German countryside that drew a cult flock. Shying from the spotlight, he spent his time rifling through an emerging surplus of great artists to grant attendant partygoers the very best experience. These days (and after a move from his old home in Leipzig to Hamburg) Steffen Bennemann puts his extensive musical knowledge to use as a prolific DJ, his daily grind a soi-disant energy transfer (as evinced by his rumored sleep parties: he plays records, his audiences sleep). In this more recent role, Bennemann paid Tbilisi a friendly visit this September for the Morevi Records night and manifested this one-of-a-kind DJ/crowd synergy with an open-air, dubby, and laid-back collection of tracks that made ravers gush. See this one for yourself, Bassiani Podcast 146 is pure lo-fi, acid-tinged funk, an uplifting mycelial paean to the Horoom dancefloor recorded live at the club.

I haven’t posted a recording of my djing for quite some time now, I feel this is a moment I can and want to share.

This 5 hour closing set has been something special for me.

Walking into de school not knowing what was about to happen, only thinking that I would see this as my musical homage to being a resident to this amazing place, a space where I was going to play one of my most memorable sets to this day. What started as 3 hours planned of a closing ended up in 5 hours of pure bliss. 
The responses on that moment have changed a lot for me. It made me rethink why I dj, why I make music and why I love doing this thing I do so much. 

These 5 hours are filled with: unknown hits to big dance bangers, music for happiness, loneliness, loving, hating, remembering, forgetting, friendship and everything in between.

Born in Algeria, and raised between France and the Netherlands, with a later stint in London, Mary Lake has lived a life through the lens of different cultures, each adding a little more to her experience in the realm of electronic music. It wasn’t always her medium, but in DJing she’s found her most authentic voice, with her start at more intimate house parties, then on to the best and brightest of Dutch clubs and festivals. For her, creative discovery and expanding the limits of craft is key, covering both the range of utilitarian techno and more atypical sounds, the likes of which she was apt to share via her experimental pandemic-era radio show Worshipping Discordia. Alongside that, and a slew of catchy releases, she’s now a Spielraum resident and frequently billed on stages from Dekmantel to De School to Tresor, Bassiani and beyond. Her percussive techno spreads the kind of wildly infectious crowd energy that drew a younger her towards it many moons ago, now she's on the inside looking out. Face Machine inhabits the blurred threshold between the human and the synthetic, where identity becomes fluid and is constantly rewritten. Drifting between melodic techno, underground trance and electro-pop, the album unfolds like a network of unstable selves - mirrors folding into mirrors, names dissolving into signals. Vocals shift between male and female, merging with abstract textures until the human voice becomes something unbound, a mutable instrument suspended between body and machine. Each track carves its own passage through luminous, volatile atmospheres, yet all are tethered by a shared sonic architecture of detuned oscillators, layered melodic counterpoint, and synthesis timbres that breathe with organic motion.

These twelve tracks move through states of emergence and disappearance - memory scattering, identity refracting, presence dissolving into signal. Wordless chants, whispered fragments, and spectral harmonies drift like residues of selves that never fully arrive. Within this landscape, rhythm and texture intertwine: polyrhythmic layers build and collapse, melodic threads blur into complex harmonic tides, and shifting tonalities open portals into new emotional terrain. Face Machine doesn't offer resolution; instead, it lingers in the spaces where perception falters and technology reshapes what it means to exist. It is an album of thresholds and transformations - a meditation on how we become, lose, and reinvent ourselves in an age where even our voices can belong to someone, or something, else.
