After a brief hiatus we are back with CKFM edition 101 & it is worth the wait. 

A definite kindred spirit to us here at Craigie Knowes, he's been doing it better & longer than most. We met in person for the first time earlier on in the year, ate a large amount of Italian food & chatted about music for a few hours before going to support our friends who were playing at Subculture. An unplanned but very much welcomed first meeting.

Raised on a diet of Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop, Punk and Reggae, turntables were a natural progression for this Bristol born, Welsh rooted DJ and Producer Owain K (Owain Kimber). After discovering the sounds of bootleg mixtapes and Techno as a youngster in the 90s, he's never been one for sitting still. 

Owain has kindly provided the tracklist for those of you so inclined, we're guessing most of you will be with the quality of the mix.

Written & Produced by Mihail P. from Vinica, Macedonia. Him being part of a new generation of UK / Detroit techno & IDM artists, presenting his signature melodic & deep sound choices on his first Album that reminiscent of the great early works of B12, Black Dog Productions, WARP and Darren Nye.

“I’ve always wanted to create and make things, even when I was a toddler. When all the other kids would play with toys that had been bought or given to them as presents, I was much more into making my own toys. I’d also design castles from cardboard and let my imagination go wild. So, when I discovered electronic music, I wondered how to go about doing it – create such an atmosphere in the track. I really love the ambience of early UK Techno, the atmosphere presented and how it all works together. It’s always a personal journey for me, regardless of what the artist had in mind while producing, you always find your own interpretation: mind music for sure.”

With the “It’s Just A Ride” Album, we finalise a project that has long been in the making. Watching Mihail’s growth and transition - the moment has come to release his intimate music for peace & understanding into this universe.

Adieu, January! February struts in with a sneak peek of sunshine 💛🧡 We’re happy to have a dazzling new wine-music combo to tickle your taste buds and serenade your soul. Introducing the fabulous selector of the month: Heidi Emilia.

”I wanted to create something dusky and dreamlike to accompany those hazy Sunday wines. Preferably enjoyed with some sunshine (I'm already dreaming about summer). This hour contains a bittersweet selection of downtempo, trip hop and more, from 90s, 00s and right now. Rounded low-ends, blissed-out synths, velvety vocals, and all that jazz.” says @heidiemiliah about the mix.

Our wine for the month is the funky and frizzante Croci Campedello! It’s a lightly sparkling orange pet'nat, made from a blend of aromatic grape varieties: Malvasia, Trebbiano, Sauvignon Blanc, Ortugo and Marsanne. A big blend for a big experience!

After harvest the grapes are crushed. The juice is allowed to macerate with the skins for 30 days, which makes the wine very orange. Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts. During fermentation the wine is bottled, and the fermentation finishes in the bottle. This produces carbon dioxide, which is the source of the light bubbles. After the sugars have been eaten up, the wine is allowed to settle and rest for a while. Not filtered or clarified, so the wine looks nice and hazy.

Campedello is a top-quality wine that you could consider buying only for the nose, which is an aromatic combination of lilies, rose, and orange zest. The taste goes along the same lines with the nose. The acidic structure, light tannins, and lively bubbles only add to the experience.
