Shades of auburn, orange and brown swept the park, from high up in the trees to the blanket that covered the ground. Autumn had arrived; it was in the colour of the leaves that crunched underfoot, the long scarves draped over the shoulders of passersby and in the slight chill that permeated the air. Though the cold was setting in, the benches that lined the park still looked inviting. You could mind your business and watch the world go by; here there was time for contemplation and reflection, space for inspiration and enlightenment. 

Brussels independent station Kiosk Radio has become a buzzing hub for the music community in the city. For the first release on their newly minted label offshoot, Kiosk Recs, they shine a light on a group of artists from within this community, station residents and members of Undo Seat Belts and Plein Sud who operate under the name PAL.

An ode to the Parc Royal, which has been the home of Kiosk Radio since it began in 2017, over nine tracks 'Music For Hikers' ruminate on their favourite places in the park, which took on a new meaning during lockdown. Moving through different moods and tempos, the LP is a blend of ambient, downtempo, spoken word and new wave which were originally commissioned by local art center Beursschouwburg as part of their On The Go sound walk series.

Macadam Mambo launches another special LP to end the 2022 season, presenting the debut album of this Belgo-Italian aural freak show called « Sexo Y Fantasia ». A delicious record full of sun by aspect, dreamy, dubby and balearic in the tone, flavored and contrasted with little bits of darkness and tension in the background. As the name suggests it, the sexiness is in every note, the erotic male voice is floating all over it, surfing on waves of endless reverb and delay. Throughout being anchored with clear hints from the 80ties and 90ties, this 35 minutes oeuvre still keeps full modernity in its form. DJ-friendly, it’s also an excellent overall listening experience to enjoy from beginning to end while sipping a fancy cocktail somewhere out in a cosmic dreamland. 
Don’t miss this joint, it might be one of the highlights of the year.

“Perdu !!” is a computer-animated film by Baptiste Le Chapelain Trivier aka Apulati Bien (BE) and Stanislas Paruzel (FR). Guided by a narrative thread woven from visions and a series of visual and sound experiments, the film follows the journey of a character facing himself and trying to find his way through unknown and deserted landscapes. Both an existentialist tale and a fantastic adventure, “Perdu !!” guides and loses us through the encounter with strange characters and intertwined spaces.

A kind word, a supporting comment, the feeling of sisterhood. »Amplification« might be a kitschy story about pushing through the dark into the light, side by side. Taking their personal friendship as the starting point of exploration Belia Winnewisser (NO) and Subrihanna (DE) found contrary motifs to actually complementing each other. Noise and harmony, the animate and the inanimate, sound and image. The attempt to join opposites to create a new kind of space.
 
In a first chapter repetitively morphing yet evolving pictures form an otherworldly landscape in a cosmos of spherical tones, noise and cut up voices. Chapter two introduces beat, dark, energetic sound and an insect-like plant, unable to fly, trapped by its own roots on a rock. A dreamy interlude connects into a different kind of world that opens up in soft pastels, reverb and harmony.
 
Laking a decryptable storyline »Amplification« leaves lots of room for feelings and associations instead. Maybe it’s a love letter to friendship, maybe a reminder that so many things are coexisting at the same time, maybe a call to built alliances or anything in between.

Nascido e criado na costa italiana de Rimini, as bases musicais de Mondo Nudo foram estabelecidas na cena dos anos 80s e 90s dos grandes clubes da Riviera como Cocoricò, Altromondo e Melody Mecca. Durante esses anos de formação, ele absorveu influências tanto da vibrante cena nativa quanto das influências internacionais dos Estados Unidos, do Reino Unido e de outros países, ao mesmo tempo em que nutria seu talento musical como pianista autodidata e elaborava suas primeiras composições.

Durante seus mais de 10 anos em Londres, embarcou em uma forte colaboração com Giles Smith e James Priestley, da consagrada Secretsundaze. Lá, ele co-geriu a renomada gravadora e festa londrina, lançando músicas de artistas como Joe Claussell, Palms Trax, Carista, Fred P e Shanti Celeste, além de organizar festas em colaboração com marcas internacionais como Southbank Centre, Sónar, Berghain, NTS Radio e Saatchi Gallery.

Aproveitando sua experiência e sensibilidade diversificadas, os sets dinâmicos de Mondo Nudo abrangem um largo espectro, que vai desde soulful até house, techno e todas as épocas da rica história da dance music.

Born and raised in the Italian coast of Rimini, Mondo Nudo’s musical foundations were laid in the Riviera club scene during the golden era of Cocoricò, Altromondo and Melody Mecca. Throughout these formative years, he absorbed influences from both the vibrant native scene and international influences from the US, UK and beyond, all the while nurturing his musical talent as a self-taught pianist and crafting his initial compositions.

During his 10+ years in London, he embarked on a strong collaboration with Giles Smith and James Priestley from Secretsundaze. Here he co-ran the renowned London party and record label, releasing music from artists such as Joe Claussell, Palms Trax, Carista, Fred P and Shanti Celeste as well as putting on parties in collaboration with international brands such as as Southbank Centre, Sónar, Berghain, NTS Radio, Saatchi Gallery.

Tapping into his diverse background and sensibility, Mondo Nudo’s dynamic DJ sets take in everything from soul to house, techno and draw from all eras of dance music’s rich history.
