What if the catastrophic wreckage of modernity, beneath its ruins, gave us the chance to discover new possibilities? what if new forms of mutant expression emerged from the destruction? MUTANT MODALITY is a Brussels-based platform and music label exploring strange and cathartic forms of artistic expression. It will provide soundtracks influenced by our times, while encouraging a sense of community between like-minded artists operating across experimental and dance floor music. For this episode, OTTOMAN GRÜW brings his combination of dance floor's body-control mechanics, post-punk adjacent experimentalism and noise mayhem to deliver a catharsis for the low lights.

She is a UK based DJ/Producer + Natural Selection Resident who's productions are characterised by their dark and atmospheric soundscapes, driven by pulsating rhythms and intricate synth work. She mainly sticks to the dark and eerie side of Electro/Techno where she will take you on a dark and twisted journey through a dystopian world. WHAT TO EXPECT: Ominous grooves, Machine sounds, broken mechanical tones and obvious sci-fi fixations which embody her carefully picked selections.

I am proud to share with you 2 hours of mix recorded during my debut at the legendary Tresor club in Berlin. It felt special to have the opening slot and see the room slowly getting packed, even more special as Tresor was the very first club I discovered when visited Berlin for the 1st time years ago.

The mix starts with some drones and evolves slowly into a special selection of noisy breaks, EBM, industrial techno/electro, and overall multi-dimensional atmospheres wrapped-up in punk fashion. ENJOY <3

We are happy to welcome Amsterdam-based selector, music producer and performer SERENA (@seresssssso). In this mix, she blends old and new favorite songs and artists into a continuous exploration and study of how old and new sounds can seamlessly merge, reflecting an ongoing celebration of music and its roots.

SERENA forges immersive soundscapes that merge aggressive noise with atmospheric textures, dubby loops, distorted guitars, and guttural vocals. As the founder and curator of SUBURBIA, an event launched in 2022 that fuses experimental music and visual arts, SERENA commands stages at iconic Amsterdam venues such as Garage Noord, Occii, SkateCafe', and Felix Meritis.  Her collaboration with Mutant Radio on the radio show 'OBSESSION' further amplifies her influence. Through her work, she weaves a tapestry of sound and vision that is both a tribute to the past and a defiant leap into the future

Our next guest is Stefan Christoff (@spirodon) a Montreal-based activist and artist active in various experimental musical projects revolving around the intersection of sound and activism, collaborating witv musicians from around the world, including Sound Dreams, Sam Shalabi, Lori Goldston and Anarchist Mountains. He also hosts Free City Radio (@freecityradio) on several Canadian radio stations and works with several cultural and social justice spaces in Montreal.

"Ottoman Grüw invited me to make a 1 hour mix for Operator Radio. It features works by friends in different corners of the world and also some recent collaborations, duets. The tone is wide, there are some wide spaces but also intense energy. I have gotten to know Jean (Ottoman Grüw) over the past couple of years, from doing work to mobilize artists to speak out in support of Palestinian human rights, to working together on a series of shows in Brussels.
