Proxima is delighted to introduce you to Yuzo Iwata, a vinyl DJ and Cuban-Japanese karateka hailing from Sapporo (Japan). 

Currently residing in Berlin, Yuzo works at two record stores, Mion Records and Sound Metaphors, and also hosts a party called FLOPPY at Precious Hall. His first album, "Kaizu", was released on Butter Sessions in 2022.

The project draws inspiration from a number of influences, such as: 80s sci-fi/horror movies, (Congolese) rhumba/soukous, gqom and early 2000s rap production, which he mixes with house and techno elements he picked up from time living in Geneva, Switzerland.

@berlinatonal and Kuboraum join forces to share a glimpse of the iconic closing set by Brazilian producer and DJ @alys-alys-alys at Berlin Atonal 2023. 

Brazil-born alys(alys)alys is an emerging talent from the Berlin scene, known for her dynamic approach to sound.  She explores the fascinating intersection of experimental, club, and Soundcloud music, crafting intricate soundscapes and delivering genre-transcending DJ sets.

Together with Isabassi, she curated a regular show on Mutant Radio called "short attention span", aiming at showcasing the B-side of artists and inviting guests to experiment the vast spectrum of sound with no expectations.
Since 2018, she has performed in venues and parties such as Herrensauna, Tresor, Griessmuehle, Funkhaus, Razzmatazz, OHM as well as in some of the notorious Brazilian parties such as Mamba Negra. Alys is also a current resident of DRY, a Berlin-based music and art collective intended to connect and foster exchanges between progressive queer, BIPOC, and boundary-pushing individuals from various communities. This year, she released the second chapter of her genre-blurring compilation 'booty&legs vol​​​.​​​2,' featuring club-ready music that sits at the intersection of experimental and pop.

We're thrilled to welcome Flore onto the Rhythmic Culture mix series. Flore is a leading figure in the French bass scene, known for her prowess as a DJ, producer, curator, and label boss of POLAAR. Her energy - filled DJ sets and ability to create a sense of community on the dance floor are what sets her apart.

Within 56-minutes she brings it from downtempo steppers to dub-heavy rhythms, from techno to quick breaks and then hops back the other way around. We're in for a treat.

If Bitter Babe was a perfume, her scent would be animalic—heavy musk, bergamot, worn leather and burnt spices. The Bogotá-born, Miami-bred and now Berlin-based artist has a heady, ultra-rhythmic sound that feels made for sweltering summer nights and feral fantasies. Combining pan-Latin styles with hard drum and industrial touches, she's crafted a singular mood that defines her DJing and production: hazy, high-energy and sensual.

Bitter Babe's ascent on the international circuit has been tied to her role in Miami's electronic renaissance. Whether it's proto-reggaeton, dense ambient or guaracha, her sets and productions are characterised by evocative low-end, darting synths and distorted frequencies that exude drama. With releases on TraTraTrax, Air Texture and SVBKVLT, she's cemented her position as an experimentalist, leaving the door open for more deconstruction and abstraction.

As cofounder of multidisciplinary project LATITUDES, Bitter Babe seeks to unify Latin America's electronic music communities. Her mixes are a great source for discovering under-the-radar acts from Peru, Brazil and beyond, some of whom are featured on her RA podcast. Starting with subby downtempo before moving onto swampy baile funk, technoid mutations of dembow and cheeky UKG, it showcases her expertise for trippy yet deeply kinetic grooves.
