A live DJ recording from Don Chich B2B GNMR at For The Cause Festival outside of Melbourne in Poowong, Victoria Australia on 29 March 2025. For The Cause is a loving curated, grass roots and intimate festival from a group and community of wonderful and kind people doing it all for the right reasons. 

The guys played a now-legendary closing set the festival on Saturday night/Sunday morning from 2:30am till 7am and we're lucky enough to have it to share with the world. 

It's an immersive, barnstorming 4 and a half hours of the highest grade records, two selectors going b2b for the first time and by the sounds of this, definitely not the last. 

There are gems a plenty in this mix as you'd expect from Don - head chef of the always-reliable Don's Delicatessen channel on YouTube - and GNMR, an Italian selector who held a residency at the legendary Goa Club in Rome.

An incredibly overdue contribution from a prolific Australian born but Berlin based producer/DJ, @rudolf-c. Rudolf C, co-founder of the incredible @salt-mines label, has been releasing groovy, electro-tinged music into the world since 2015 - over 10 years of consistently impressive tunes. 

Ru is also a committed member of the Berlin music community and DJS regularly throughout Europe. A vinyl boss with the skills & taste only one with over a decade of experience one can acquire - we're lucky enough to showcase one of his recent studio mixes on Animix this week. Glitchy-techy-minimal-dubby, and some sexy acid lines for good measure. A perfect fit for the series.

There is no forced climax, only a continuous progression designed to induce a physical and mental state of trance.

For our next instalment we draw from our own fertile waters. This time with a two hour recording from Bakk Heia resident and label partner schuttle. 

Schuttle has been a resident DJ and sporadic guest of the Bakk Heia parties since their inception. In fact he played our very first party in TWH nearly 10 years ago, at a time when the sky lights were yet to be covered and day light would filter unashamedly over the dancers as the sun rose. It came to our attention that since that set, schuttle hadn’t set forth on a solo flight, so it seemed high time for him to spread his tentacles over the closing hours. 

Through this mix schuttle channels the seething energy that is only possible during those final hours. The part timers have left, the room is totally locked in and the allure of chaos is strong. As such, it invites the dancer to delve a little deeper, perfectly navigating the dark into light. Often hypnotic and tunnelling, sometimes euphoric, sometimes explosive, but always directly from the heart. It was a truly beautiful experience to witness such a concise and coherent artistic expression from someone who understands, on a fundamental level, the power these hours can have, and what they mean to us. 

As the lights came on at 7am, there was palpable outpouring of love. The closing moments evoke that beautiful feeling of returning somewhere familiar. Wrapped together in euphoric joy.
