wav.world emerged out of a long-running chat exchange of mixes, tracks, and some playful speculation: If you were going to make a platform for DJ mixes in 2024, what would it look like?

Mixes are a unique type of musical expression. They capture a specific moment in time, determined by the knowledge and style of the artist. A mix is as important a creative statement as an album, remix or EP. One mix can change an artist’s career, one mix can open a listener’s mind to something completely new.

𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓯𝓪𝓿𝓸𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓮 𝓶𝓲𝔁𝓮𝓼 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓽𝓲𝓶𝓮𝓵𝓮𝓼𝓼.

We miss the importance that mixes used to have. So, we made a platform for mixes.

Each wav.world mix gives one artist the time and resources to create whatever kind of mix they want, to share something sonic about who they are and what they love.

Every wav.world mix will feature a longform interview with the artist which gets to the heart of what moves them—in music and in life—through text, video and image. Each edition of wav.world will feature the commissioned work of music journalists, visual artists and graphic artists.

DJ, music producer, sound designer and performer, Sara Dziri is a multi-faceted artist who rose in just a few years as one of the artists defining the Brussel’s electronic underground scene. Her dj sets and productions stand for surprising rhythmically complex house and techno. Sara's resident and founder of the feminist and queer underground party ‘Not Your Techno’ and ‘Souk Sessions’, a night dedicated to arab techno.

Londoner Josey Rebelle is 'just' a DJ. She doesn't make records, she plays them, but she plays them like no one else. Her impeccable taste and ability to join the dots between disparate genres in the club, on the radio and with the compilations she puts out has won her countless awards. She is known for drawing on her Caribbean roots as much as she is for the passion she pays with and the authenticity of her selections. Whether old or new, jungle or soul, a Josey Rebelle set is a thing of joy.

And she proves that for us this week with an almost two-hour mix that traverses a dizzying amount of terrain. It's a club-focussed trip that fizzes with apocalyptic energy before taking off into worlds of cosmic techno, twitchy club music and supple jungle. The drama comes as much from the mixing as the tunes but one thing is for sure, there is no real way of knowing whether you're listening to sounds from the past, present or future.

Dekmantel Podcast 473 - Josey Rebelle

Dekmantel celebrates the 10th anniversary of Dekmantel Festival with a 44-track, 7-record box set compilation, with each record representing a stage at the festival. CCL has created a mix containing tracks exclusively from the box set. Early copies of the box set will be available during the festival, with the official release date in September.

Today we're thrilled to present a mix from dj and vinyl enthusiast, Lolo / @lolo-lolo-lolo-96. Laurent is half of dj duo @digabuna, and the pair also also run the amazing @coppiberlin studio. We were lucky enough to meet Laurent at Coppi a few weeks back - a weekly community session based in a warehouse in the East of Berlin. The project aims to create spaces and strengthen the community exchange of non-commercial underground music culture.

This mix shows a little taste of Laurent's diverse musical knowledge and influences - a fun and effortlessly mixed hour of percussive housey vibes. Laurent is currently based in Berlin, however plans to relocate to Naarm later this year & we're very much looking forward to it :)
