Hailing from Los Angeles, and having previously appeared on Peoples Potential Unlimited, Benedek hit us big time earlier this year with a joint effort with Tom Noble out on Superior Elevation Records, the Ocean Side / Airwayz EP. The man is back already with the splendid solo EP "Coolin'", previously released on tape via Leaving Records, and now available on wax thanks to Brooklyn based label Arcane. A side's closing track premiered here is the fast-paced "Afterglo", driven by a metronomic drum machine and a groovy bass, that reaches balearic status thanks to its delayed guitars à la Roxy Music and dreamy digital bells. This is most definitely this Summer's driving soundtrack and it's already out everywhere !

Beginning in the south, the Bruce Trail hugs the ancient shoreline of Lake Iroquoia as it follows the edge of the Niagara Escarpment. The Path, over its lengthy journey, winds its way through a landscape of natural beauty as it moves up to central Ontario. 
As the Trail leads further into the depths of the woodland and Ravine, sunlight falls through layers of evergreen branches stamping intricate patterns on the forest floor. Continuing north, the Trail passes an array of plants and wildlife native to the historic forest. Vivid colours saturate the forest canopy, complimented by the sounds of the cascading waterfall echoing through the Ravine. In the distance a carpet of gently waving fern cover the rolling hills dotted with slow-growing centuries-old coniferous trees that reach towards the sun.
At the home stretch of the escarpment you will be offered stunning views of the Peninsula, with the calm blue water of the western end of Lake Ontario reaching out to the lush greens of the temperate rainforest. This is the journey of the Bruce Trail.

One of Italy’s finest purveyors of jazzy and soulful house beats, Academy alumnus Broke One, returns this February with a new EP. ‘This Thing Called Reality’ collects four tasteful takes on Big Bait Records’ random color series with 555 individually colored records. “Don’t Fight the Feeling,” the second groove on the record’s A-side, is built around Herbie Hancock’s musings on what he learned about mistakes from Miles Davis. The tune itself bears strong traces of a jazz signature and will slide nicely into your crates next to the likes of Max Graef and Theo Parrish.

Dj Kush Boogie; an enigmatic and mysterious entity in which all we know of their existence is the alias comprises of two talented producers, supposedly from the southern hemisphere. The mystery surrounding the release bears no real surprise - this being their third in the series of supposedly unmarked offerings seemingly via London stalwart, Lobster.

Regarding the important thing here; the music, the series and this release alone is truly outstanding and standalone in it's approach. Those quick to judge may be inclined to pop the NZ duo in the 'lofi' box - however, it's so much more than that. Gristly saturation and glitched percussion shrouds the release as a whole, yet the club and floor remain at the core of each tracks aura. 'Dancers Cut' is no exception, anchored by sanguine keys, a bullish bass line and swathing vocal sweeps - all shelled by hallmark Kush twitched percussion and topped with a flute motif, catchier than the plague.

Berlin based label Jazz Cabbage - led by the illustrious Strip Steve - have been turning heads with their collection of wonky & groovy jazz-infused house tunes for the past year or so. Following previous releases from YGT, Daisuke Kondo and a recent family affair titled the Jazz Cabbage Grand Ball, label regular Joe Clean is back with his new EP, “Feeling Cute Dunno Might Delete Later”. Spanning three original cuts of sample heavy groovers and a great remix from wonky house specialist Glenn Astro himself, this is one smooth record.

Our pick of the bunch is the B1, aptly titled “We Need”. Right off the bat, Joe Cleen’s combination of slick filtering, bouncy toms, and crisp hats - all against the backdrop of one undeniably satisfying kick - get you in the mood to throw down. Soon joined by a piano sample with a tone that brings tears to your eyes and a delicate clap that’ll soothe your soul, “We Need” is a near-perfect warmup tune. Without question, this really is a track we need, and we’re pretty sure that you do to. Out on Nov 8th.

Over the past few years, Palms Trax has cemented his place on the Dekmantel roster and become one of the family. His upbeat attitude and knack for selection have made Jay Donaldson one of the scene’s most in-demand and warmly regarded selectors. Combining rare, globally-sourced finds with exuberant house anthems, his annual sets at Dekmantel Festival have showed a nearly unmatched capacity for filling floors and creating grooves. Now, the UK producer puts his talents to work on To Paradise, tapping classic Italo, wave and Balearic house for an EP that has summertime written all over it.

Title track "To Paradise" kicks things off with an infectious, melodic chorus that spirals into a pulsing rhythm. It’s full of those 'hand-in-the-air' type moments, and topped with blissful vibes. "Love In Space" follows with a throbbing bassline melded with rich atmospheres. It’s more Adriatic than Balearic, careening with an anthemic affection and destined for festival season. "Heron" veers away from the Italo vibes and standard structures that hold regular dance tracks together. A departure into more experimental electronics, the dynamics are controlled through rhythms and the synthesised melodies create forlorn narratives across machine-driven sequences. It's a dynamic finish to this considered and perfectly timed trio of offerings.
