London based, @axeonwax-records label head @fede-lng launches a new sub-label dubbed PNP with ‘PNP 01’, featuring the dreamy and melodic house cut ‘Inside Your Love Edit’.

Since launching in 2014, Axe On Wax has become a prominent supplier of deep, dancefloor focused grooves, releasing material from the likes of Boo Williams, Chaos In The CBD, DJ Aakmael and Mall Grab, among others. In the past year alone, it’s sub-label Axe Traxx has developed a reputation for the finest in gritty, dusty house. Now a new sub-label comes into the fold to broaden the Axe On Wax reach even further.

On ‘PNP 01’, Fede Lng sets off with a similar hazy motif that he’s become known for in recent years. ‘Inside Your Love Edit’ possesses an infectiously emotive essence met with driving and steady house rhythms, revealing a moody track with strong dancefloor appeal. 

‘PNP 01’ is set for release on June 26 and also features tunes from Deejay Astral, Jesse Bru and Nostalgia.

Rising Australian producer Jad & The is back on Toy Tonics with a stack of smooth and cleverly constructed tracks found on his 'Strings Never Win' EP, including the disco-tinged title track primed for the dancefloor.

Following releases on Mike Simonetti's 2MR, Sonar Kollektiv and Centre Source Records, @jad-lee has been steadily making his presence felt within the underground community focusing on soulful house. His latest work touches on multiples aspects of his sound with motifs of balearic rhythms and retro melodies. The new material is definitely right at home on Toy Tonics.

Globetrotting Texan trio Khruangbin present 'Maria También', the first single from their upcoming second album ‘Con Todo El Mundo'. Formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald “DJ” Johnson on drums; Khruangbin’s sounds are rooted in the deepest waters of world music infused with classic soul, dub and psychedelia. Their 2015 debut album ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ was heavily influenced by 60’s and 70’s Thai cassettes the band listened to on their long car journeys to rehearsal in the Texan countryside. ‘Con Todo El Mundo’ takes inspiration not just from South East Asia but similarly underdiscovered funk and soul of the Mediterranean and the Middle East, particularly Iran.

Apollo new boy Chris Roth AKA Marenn Sukie joins up for the Mosaic EP.

A rabid fan of drum n bass and hip hop as well a classic soul, jazz and funk, Roth is an accomplished sample manipulator whose richly organic sounds call to mind 'Rounds' era Four Tet, the sophisticated jazz of Cinematic Orchestra or indeed the spacious moods of new label mates Albrecht Labrooy.

Mining audio gold from the widescreen productions of classic 70's music Roth balances an interest in contemporary beat culture with a winsome eye for the golden sounds of the past.

"My tracks have usually around 30 different samples in one tune,” Roth explains “I make a point to never sample 'loops' - it's a mix of pitching samples then maybe adding a synth for bass lines."

The Mosaic EP spans a wide range of moods and tempos - genre is fluid in the world of Marenn Sukie; house, drum n bass and jazz bleeding together, creating a beguiling blend all Roth's own.

‘Into The Silence’ is one of the EP’s real highlights - composed in the main from Polish jazz samples that Roth got while in Warsaw. Epic closer ‘Feels Like Love’ sees him splice three different jazz singers together to make up the haunting melody.

Only his second ever EP release, the Mosaic EP came about following Apollo's own Synkro making the intro to R&S founder Renaat Vanderpapiere. 
Vanderpapiere loved what he heard and instantly signed Roth up, and this is the result; a strong and vital musical statement that suggest a bright future ahead.

1Forty has found another unearthed gem in the way of AfterHours. ‘Dubplate’ is the London producers first ever release and it was all curated around the Korg M1 synth including rebuilding the eskimo style. Something that was of particular interest to 1Forty considering the vast majority of producers coming through are using a mainly software such as Massive & Serum.

AfterHours background consists of largely Dubstep & Grime first getting into producing back in 2012. Education soon took over a year later and the 21 year old fell out the loop for a couple of years until Summer of 2017 where the resurgence in the underground scene inspired him to get back into production focusing on his complex sound design. Benteki has recently supported some of his material on Reprezent Radio.
