I Love this Song and thought that a soft sensitive approach would be perfect.  Recorded once again with all room noise amplified, acoustic guitars, a Wurlitzer 200 and patience.  Enjoy.

Streets of Philadephia

A song from the aftermath of the civil rights movement in the United States with deep messages that I think are still very relevant today.  To me the message shouts, "Don't judge people for what they appear to be but rather who they really are".  

I always loved the bass groove in this song.  I thought I would take an approach where the bassline was present but different.  I would love some tips on recording with lots of room sound and live of the floor like the Tiny Desk Concerts or the live broadcast from KCRW.  


Respect Yourself (Staple Singers Cover)

My favourite version of this song would have to be John Coltrane and Duke Ellington.  Duke's piano part is just genius.  
This track started with a recording of my second Son's heartbeat the night my wife was in labour with him.  It was a truly beautiful image to see new life brought into this world, our world, my world.  As selfish as that is, the existence of my children has given me more reason to create music and feel passionate about something.  This has made me feel like I have more of myself to give to the world.

A great cover song by a great artist.  The Bottle is story of someone we all know and have been affected by.  The life of an alcoholic or a destroyer of happy life.  
Gil Scott Heron was a real poet and the grandfather of hip hop.  My last recording of 2012 in the midst of flu and cold season.  Hard to focus but here it is...

A blend of this and that. Only real, organic sounds and a trace of technology. The genre is what feels right in the moment. 
I am a product of my surroundings and mixing fusions of life and culture is my surroundings.  I am primarily a singer but play all the instruments in these recordings with limitations of course.
