'The only way to win the war' is a song about the 3800 Kimakase pilots that died, fighting a last ditch war for the nation of Japan. They managed to sink 50 ships and kill 5000 enemy seamen.

'Shameful, or heroic' sums up the debate that still rages. There are now less ten kimakase pilots still alive, all in their 90's.

This song is a reflection of the rituals and beliefs around followng a ''divine Emperor' into battle. Most of the men were only 21 years of age.
