Void - On Acid

Proving yet again that Program pedestals versatility and musicianship, the imprint returns with another record which shows it’s here to stay. Featuring the renowned tastemaker Crissy Criss, who has premiered some of the bigger drum & bass anthems across the radio airwaves, as well as budding newcomer Malux and Brighton Maestro Erb & Dub, these fresh cuts feature three artists that demonstrate a winning combination.

Up first is the dirtier dancefloor slayer ‘Blizzard’. Epitomising the darker sounds these three bring together, it’s a techy slice of distorted bassline and snappy stabs which roll you deeper into its directly thick composition. Peddled on kick drum with tinny percussion filtering through the mix, prepare yourself to be drawn into the murkier depths of dancefloor’s globally. Switching up midway, the trio take you to a depth they master ingeniously.

You’re then introduced to the brooding, rolling number ‘Wonky’. Described perfectly within its own name, this lumbering yet dynamic track provides a switch up in any set. Setting out on a funky undercurrent, its falling arpeggios and bouncing subs take you across a production line of carefully crafted beats. Fiercely different from its predecessor, you’re provided with a glimpse of the producers’ capabilities. A set of skills sure to see them appear on your playlists this summer.

Although the Juno identity has only been around since late 2016, the Spanish producer has long been influential in the world of bass music through previous aliases Aphex and Pheex, receiving support from the likes of Krewella, Far Too Loud, Evol Intent, DJ Bl3nd, and more, as well as several award nominations from DJ Mag, International Breaks Awards, and Breakspoll.

With the massive ‘Raptor’ on last year’s ‘Summer Slammers’ compilation on Viper Recordings, followed hot on the heels with ‘Red Blocks’ (which received massive support from Insomniac) on 2018’s annual, Juno has paved the way for future success with the label, evident in ‘Akira’ and ‘Truth In The Skies’.

‘Truth In The Skies’ features the lyrical genius of Dutch native, Innate MC, known for his work with A.M.C.’s Titan Records. Another dark and gritty tune, great attention is given to the build-up of every drop, creating a sense of suspense from start to finish matched only by the tune’s incredible adrenaline.

‘Akira’ is a tech-inspired, bass heavy thumper of a track that is sure to please fans of the darker side of the genre. Deep, thudding bass backs a gritty, neuro-infused melody that constantly evolves as the track progresses, giving the track an almost haunting edge.
