HYPERCUBE has built a reputation on high-energy performances with impressive execution. The NYC-based quartet embraces the boundaries of chamber music, featuring cutting-edge works for saxophone, guitar, piano and percussion, while spanning electric and acoustic worlds. From championing original works such as Louis Andriessen’s Hout, Philippe Hurel’s Localized Corrosion, and Chaya Czernowin’s Sahaf, to commissioning new works by composers Nicholas Deyoe, Farzia Fallah, Eric Wubbels, Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh, Daniel Tacke, Erin Rogers, Amin Sharifi, Nomi Epstein, Christopher Adler, and Juan Trigos, HYPERCUBE has collaborated with composers such as Sam Pluta and Chris Cerrone, to freshly adapt works for the quartet. HYPERCUBE is Erin Rogers (saxophones), Jay Sorce (classical & electric guitar), Andrea Lodge (piano & accordion), and Chris Graham (percussion).

“La Femme aux Bijoux” is one of those songs born from memory, longing, and the strange way time never really erases anything.
It’s a story of reunion — unexpected, fragile, almost unreal — with feelings that return like old flames refusing to die out.
Between French poetry and small Spanish sparks, the song moves through gratitude, regret, desire, and the quiet hope that life might still offer a second beginning.
It’s not just a love song… it’s a conversation with forty years of silence.

The lyrics, "Now I’ve found a new place called home / In the heart / Where love has grown," are the resolution, sung from a place of hard-won peace.

Musical Atmosphere:
The arrangement unfolds not like an overture, but like a final, gentle curtain call. A delicate acoustic guitar arpeggio provides the foundation, like a steady heartbeat. A lyrical flute melody weaves in, reminiscent of a distant memory. Soft harp glissandi add a sense of grace and closure, while the warm, sustaining tones of the French horn offer deep comfort. The oboe enters with a poignant counter-melody, speaking of wisdom earned through sorrow, and the violin adds the final, expressive sweeps of emotion. Together, they create a chamber-like tapestry that feels less like a beginning and more like a soft, settling silence—the sound of acceptance after a long struggle.

Es ist die musikalische Antwort auf eine lebenslange Frage: Wo ist Heimat, wenn die Welt, die man kannte, fort ist?

Die Zeilen "Now I’ve found a new place called home / In the heart / Where love has grown" (Nun habe ich einen neuen Ort namens Zuhause gefunden / Im Herzen / Wo Liebe gewachsen ist) sind die Auflösung, gesungen aus einem Ort des erkämpften Friedens.

I've experienced chronic insomnia for several years. This piece was written following a sleepless night, and attempts to capture the hazy and disorienting but familiar feeling of the middle of the day feeling later than nighttime.

"Resonator" accentuates the resonant qualities of Hypercube's instrumentation, accumulating a cloud of droning overtones above a fast and rhythmic quartet. While much of my music consists of long-form unfolding processes, this music is full of abrupt interruptions, inspired by Tony Conrad's essay "A Few Remarks Before I Begin": "Attention needs guideposts for focus. Exploration of alternative attentiveness is a valuable cultural commodity."
