This one-hour soundscape is an invitation to visualize and feel. It begins with a walk in the garrigue, passes through a village, and a few others, and when night falls, I wanted you to feel the mistral let out of control on your skin.
It goes to meet the elders, and in a time when identity is at the center of preoccupations, I wanted to get back to the essential: We all belong to a decor, this one is mine. So, this mix is a very personal way between traditional and folk music from Occitanie and Provence, field recordings from anthropologists and musicologists works, the 70’s novà cançon occitana, and contemporary tracks that remind me of the south and the mediterranean. I worked this mix as a visualization experience, in a very personal and intimate way.

Yes - it's much quieter. So use your volume knob and turn it up to the same volume as the album version and play them back to back. Pay particular attention to the drums and percussion, how they thump & punch much harder in this version. Notice the music has so much more space, more air, more clarity in all instruments. You'll hopefully instantly hear the difference!

Warme Synthesizersounds, Klangflächen, Geräuschtexturen und reduzierte aber tanzbare Beats - Frieder Nagels liebevoll gelayerte organische Tracks tragen Melancholie in sich, jene, die das Gemüt niemals zu tief in den Abgrund zieht, sondern auch ein Angebot zum Aufbruch macht. Gerade aus dieser Dynamik heraus schafft die Musik auch Raum für euphorische Momente. Seine Kompositionen laden zur Realitätsflucht ein, doch bevor man sich komplett verliert, schiebt sich ganz subtil dieses diffuse Bedrohungsszenario vor die Augen.

2016 trat Frieder Nagel erstmals, zusammen mit dem Musikproduzenten David August und dem Berliner Symphonie Orchester, im Berliner Radialsystem V auf. Im selben Jahr wurde das Konzert von Boiler Room als Video veröffentlicht. Die künstlerische Zusammensetzung dieses ersten Auftritts zeigt Frieder Nagels allgemeine Experimentierfreudigkeit. Bei seinen Ausflügen in die unterschiedlichsten Genres arbeitet sich der Berliner durch klassische Musik, durch die elektronische Clubkultur und von Theaterproduktionen zu audio-visuellen Experimenten.

Es folgten Auftritte in der Philharmonie Essen, beim Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg sowie in Underground-Clubs wie dem Acud in Berlin oder dem Nummer zu Platz (Nr. z. P.) in Bielefeld. Außerdem produzierte er das Musikvideo zu Daniel Brandts Track Flamingo, der beim Londoner Label Erased Tapes erschienen ist.

Anfang 2019 wurde Frieder Nagels erste EP „Distract Robots“ auf dem renommierten französischen Label Infiné veröffentlicht. Im vergangenen Sommer komponierte er die Musik für den Don Juan Techno Club der japanischen Choreografin Fukiko Takase für die Gluck Festspiele Nürnberg und für die interaktive Dokumentation Field Trip von Eva Stotz über den verlassenen Berliner Flughafen Tempelhof. Seine zweite EP Karoshi (2020) baut laut dem Groove-Magazin Jazziges, Neoklassisches und Synthetisches mit gebrochenen Techno-Electro-Beats "mit einer überlegenen Souveränität" zusammen.
