Apparel Music pushes forward with a four track single from label-founder Kisk. The Italian producer teams up with some associates of the imprint on a couple of the featured cuts, while Anton Kubikov reworks the title track to shape up the 'Friends' EP. Title track 'Friends' opens the single, seeing Kisk delve deep with a dusty Jazz-tinged deep house workout. Gritty drum samples, a double bass hook and a blend of cosseting Rhodes and murmuring vocal lines lay the foundations, while emotive string melodies add a further beauty to things creating a classy, understated piece to kick things off. Kisk then teams up with Undeep aka Gennaro Mastrantonio for '4Friends' following in the same ilk the duo drive the record with sweeping pads, bumpy raw rhythms and bubbling background atmospherics to again create a slow-blooming elegant record. On the latter half of the release Kisk pairs up with Portugese producer Accatone, this time taking the feel in a more upfront and direct direction as weighty sub tones fuel the tracks energy and ethereal pads, subtly processed piano hits and spoken word vocal lines drive the musicality. Then finally to close the EP Moscow based producer, notably known for his work with the likes of Kompakt and Trapez turns in a stunning melodic interpretation of 'Friends', skillfully composing dazzling piano hooks alongside heavenly pads, berloque percussion and a hefty amount of sub.

On the shores of Te Moana-a-Toi, where the Bay of Plenty kissed the city of Tauranga, a pair of friends, kindred spirits bound by rhythm and melody, found inspiration in the whispers of the sea breeze and the laughter of the sunlit waves. These two, Groundhog, were purveyors of groove. One morning, as the first lights danced across the water, they stood atop Mauao, the sacred mountain overlooking their hometown. The air was alive with energy, as if the earth itself hummed in anticipation of what was to come. It was there, under the glow of the rising sun, that inspiration struck. The first melody emerged full of promise. They called it “Be The One” and it captured the belief that every step forward was a chance to be someone’s light. Later, as they wandered through the bustling markets of Tauranga, the vibrant energy of the people ignited their imagination. This became the soul of “What’s That”, a playful groove infused with funky beats that seemed to ask a question without ever needing an answer. A celebration of curiosity. As the day turned to twilight, the hum of the ocean and the glow of the moon inspired the final “Chandeliers”. This track was their homage to the night, to moments of intimacy and wonder shared under a canopy of glittering lights. With the three tracks complete, Groundhog knew they had captured the spirit of Tauranga, the energy of rebirth, the thrill of discovery and the quiet magic of connection. They called their creation Be The One EP, a sonic invitation for the world to step out with open hearts and moving feet. On March 28 2025, as spring unfolds in the Northern Hemisphere, you will hear what Te Moana-a-Toi has whispered to these two souls. Transitioning from the successful 2 Years EP (O Sótão Records, 2023), Tiago Fonseca became an up and coming Producer and DJ based between Lisbon and Porto. On the back of gigs at some of the best clubs in the country, he also transitions from Tiago A.F. to TGZ (sounding Tigz) as his moniker for what’s to come ahead. Long Shape, his latest project, is O Sótão’s first vinyl release, and the first to be delivered with higher standards of professionalism. Learning the trade, the processes, the timeframes, the costs, and having just completed 10 years of existence. A good time to go a bit deeper.

A sonic journey rooted in origins, history, and the interconnectedness of humanity, BAOBAB is a five-track EP inspired by Mambele’s 2024 trip to Senegal. Blending ambient textures, hip-hop beats, house grooves, and reggae warmth, this project channels the spirit of Africa while embracing a global sound. The closing track, Kimia, is a deeply personal tribute, produced alongside Lola G for their newborn daughter, enriched by the soulful vocals of Dhazed and Spataro’s expressive wind instrumentation.

Slo-mo Deep House cut ‘Rotten Fingers’ was originally released by wolf peaches and producer Robin Grey as a downtempo song (it’s well worth seeking out).

Web Web with their sixth album in seven years and with a new touch. More psychedelic, sometimes more krauty than before. This time, WEB WEB in their original line - up (without Max Herre) have (again) chosen a special guest: JJ Whitefield (The Poets Of Rhythm / Karl Hector & The Malcouns / Syrup), who contributes the fantastic guitar sound. His riffs are sometimes funky as with the Poets Of Rhythm or Syrup, or more psychedelic as with Karl Hector & The Malcouns or his many live and studio recordings with Embryo. The sound color of his guitar gives the album the thrust into the wonderful atmosphere of spacey jazz - kraut bands of the seventies.

Following the critical acclaim of their self-titled debut EP, praised by the likes of scene figures such as Gilles Peterson, Lefto, Laurent Garnier, Kevin Beadle, Pat Steel or Shy One, the Marseilles quartet Angles Morts is back with a four-track EP reflecting further growth in their sound. Drawing on the idea of itinerancy inspired by their wanderings on the roads of southern France, the project showcases a stunning soundscape, filled with the hypnotic textures provided by their arsenal of synths including Prophet Rev-2, Roland Alpha Juno 1, Emu-Orbit and Nord Lead A1. With its racing bass line, syncopated chords and dusty drums, the opening track “Macadam Freak” is a superb statement of the band's sound, concluding with a dreamlike saxophone solo by Matthieu Fabre.
